You know, this title "Dixie's Voyage" is interesting. Whenever Dixie appears in the Donkey Kong Country games, she always faces an arduous trek across some distant land. Half the time, DK and Diddy only travel across their own island, but Dixie has to walk so far in every game. Consider:DKC2: She not only had to swim all the way to Crocodile Isle, she also had to climb all the way up it.DKC3: She also apparently swam all the way to the Northern Kremisphere and, once there, had to scour the entire landscape looking for DK and Diddy.DKC Tropical Freeze: She had to find her way over five other islands AND Donkey Kong Island.Granted, all of those times she had friends with her, but my point is that Dixie as a character seems to always be connected with some kind of long and difficult journey, which, in my opinion, renders the title of this epic song perfectly fitting.
As a big fan of DKC2, I love this. But I associate its music with Diddy. I would've gone with some remixes from DKC3 (Admittedly, there aren't many choices that would fit. Maybe Big Boss Blues?), its GBA remake or maaaaaaaaaaaybe DKL3 if that had any original music. It's possible you never played any them, thus went for Dixie's debut game. Or you just prefer DKC2, whatever. I'm just guessing.
+Nathanael Platier I hear ya, but, well, DKC3 is Dixie's game, I mean, she's the star of it, it's all hers!! I would've tried to at least take some music from the GBA DKC3, since it's David Wise and the style would go along better with DKC2 and Tropical Freeze.
It's not full of duds, I still like a lot of it. Swanky's Sideshow, Bonus Time, Hot Pursuit, Nuts And Bolts, Rockface Rumble, Big Boss Blues and but most of the GBA soundtrack. The SNES soundtrack is better iPod material, that's how I came to appreciate it. Still doesn't hold a candle to DKC2's however. Except for maybe Bonus Time, that one is just amazing to me.
***** DKC3 is great though, and it does have good music. It could've used the exposure, especially the underlooked GBA soundtrack. If ever there was a time to give it some spotlight, Dixie Kong would be it. In fact, I would hope if Dixie was in Smash, she'd bring along some DKC3 with her, like some trophies or music, or moves, Kiddy as a final smash maybe? Or Ellie? I mean, come on, DKC3 is Dixie's game!!!
