You Had Your Chance - there shoulda been a remix w Snoop & Dr. Dre on this one & released as a single! She even whistles the melody from “Nothin’ But a G Thang” as the song fades out!

Her version of the Star Spangled Banner (plus “America the Beautiful”) at the New Orleans Super Bowl, I think in 2002, is another gem to me. Respectful of the original, and yet absolutely has that Mariah “signature” on it. I don’t feel that singers of the National Anthem need to be sooo respectful that they resort to being boring… you can still mix it up. Shit, look at the Destiny’s Child version. Slayage. Very unique, and yet… still worked, and nobody was saying that they disrespected the original. Mariah gives each line a little flair but it’s just right. And the whistle, well, if you can, ya have to!
