TRUE STORY: Kelly was doing sound check for Richard Smallwood’s live Journey live from New York album at the Hammerstein Ballroom. I was on my lunch and the doors were open, and I immediately recognized her voice!!! Luckily the security guard let me come in and listen after standing at the door for a minute. I stayed as long as could on my lunch break then went upstairs and bought 2 tickets online for me and a friend. My friend who’s a single mother was going through a hard time. I knew the lyrics of the song would soothe her. She wasn’t really religious besides having gone to catholic school. When Kelly came out and sang MORNING’S BREAKING, my friend Broke down in tears , I had never seen her cry ever in the 13 years I’d know her. She soon joined Marble Collegiate Church and took her kids EVERY SUNDAY. Kelly Price’s voice brings you closer to God. Y’all better believe.

I miss singers who can actually just sing and not just talk and whisper of beats. The rawness in her vocal is amazing.

I honestly think her song "Friend of Mine" is TOTALLY underrated as one of the greatest R&B songs of the 90s. The vocals are top tier and it's actually really, REALLY well-written.

It’s that flat foot singing for me. Her technique is insane and so effortless. She doesn’t even seem like she s trying and she’s flowing through all her registers with ease and connection. She takes the perfect breaths and have amazing diction. Take notes singers it’s the breath, the relaxed jaw, the neutral larynx and other things that make your voice great.

The fact she sang “Don’t Go Away” interlude I want to reiterate INTERLUDE from Soul of a Women which was 24 years ago and sounded the exact same was ridiculous

My mom passed right before I turned 16. I'd started a new school and was very angry, antisocial, maybe even downright mean. There was a talent show and I decided to sing. I sang "Friend of Mine" as KP is one of my favorite singers, and Soul of a Woman got me through. I received a standing ovation for my performance. I also sang "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" at a cultural event at a college event. I greatly appreciate this episode Terrell! Can't wait for season 5.
