Hello RU-vidrs,
Today I'm testing my DIY home-made 10x probe, with my DSO138 oscilloscope.
Thanks to my fellow RU-vidrs for providing great examples for building 10x probe. I made this probe to observe 120 Vac line voltage.
Materials used to build probe:
1 ea. 10 Mega Ohm 1/2 watt resistor
1 ea. BNC connector
2 ea. alligator clips
6" of 50 ohm RG8 coax cable
2 pieces of old computer power supply wire
2" piece of 3/8" copper tubing
Rubber splicing tape
Solder and iron
I first ran 2 measurements with the stock 1x probe for comparison; then switched to the 10x probe.
An old cordless drill battery charger provided the test signals for the low voltages.
As seen, the 10x probe is not exactly dividing by 10, but I can now observe signals up to about 200 Vac on the DSO138, using my 10x probe.
All parts dug out from my trusty junk box.
Thanks for watching.
