Clear, concise and under 2 minutes. Thanks man I appreciate this. Just got the pop up alert on my 2016 pony telling me to change this battery and started freaking out thinking the key fob was about to die at any moment.
You got a warning for that? I never got a warning it just said "key not detected" while driving and now my main and my spare fobs do not work - not even in the cupholder slot. Gonna buy these new batteries and try swapping it out and I pray that is the only issue
DagenhamDave59 my car has a custom radio that’s done some funky stuff to the car so it’s anyone’s guess what’s happening. Right now the car doesn’t detect both key fobs and even putting it in the cup holder doesn’t work. The alarm still works just fine tho. It loves blaring every time I open the door
When my first fob battery needed replacing, the dealership charged me. Never used my 2nd fob. 5 years later, it's falling apart and beat up, so now I figured I'd use the 2nd fob that's in immaculate condition. When I used it, I got the battery low indicator. This time, I'll change it myself and I'm sure it's an easy process just as long as I know how. So I came here and omg... took about a minute. Can't believe they charged me for this back then. Thanks! Best part was... I had a package of 2025 batteries in the kitchen drawer! No need to go to the store!
Thank you! You are amazing! My key fob came apart and one piece fell on the ground at the store today. Have not ever used the key to open the door and had no clue where to even put the key into on the handle. When I called the Ford Dealership where I purchased and take my car to get serviced, the guy that answered the phone really wasn’t helpful at all in anyway. I was able to get it put together enough to where I could get my trunk and car door to open! I got home and knew I had another key fob. I found your video and wow! You made it so simple to change the battery from the broken one and place them into my other key fob. You totally made my day!!!
My gf dropped my key in academy couldn’t find out why it wasn’t working afterword when it broke apart… she was putting it back together with only one battery inside. Thanks man
Really helpful video, thank you. Interesting, if concerning point though, from the moment the car alerted me to the battery needing to be changed to the key actually dying was one locking and 1 unlocking so all I can recommend is that as SOON as you see the warning, change them. But a great video,
Soooooo helpful! Thank you for this! I rewatch it every time I have to replace my key fob battery. I guess I don’t do it often enough to memorize the process. 😂
Thxs for this. Made it pretty easy. Found it odd tho that I have 2 FOBs for my 2017 Mustang and the car gave a low battery warning for both in the same day after 4 years, Thing is I only use one ever.
key fob rob where did you get the key case from with the horseLshelby logo on the back instead of ford...? please help i am exahusted in trying to look for one
2025 battery. Good. I was having trouble finding the right one with a regular search. I figured out the rest, but I didn't want to tear apart the key before I headed to the store.
Is there a part number for the key holder just it self I have a 2015 Mustang I am missing the key holder would u happen to know if there is a part number for it
question, just got my 2015 mustang back and my battery and starter are basically new and my key fob isnt working and seems like its dead because my car wont lock and buttons wont work. Any ideas? Do I need to just switch the battery inside it?
so its my understanding the 2032 is the same size as the 2025 but has more battery holding capacity. have you tried dropping in 2032's- will they fit inside the casing?
Good video and I have now put new batteries in both of my key fobs for my 2015 Mustang GT Premium but what you do not explain is how the 2 new batteries should go in if you forget to look at how the old ones were placed/sitting...i.e. each battery has writing/numbers on only one side of the battery but do they go in with those sides facing each other or not or does it matter? In case it does matter, I replicated how the old ones were sitting which was with the bottom one with the writing side facing up but the top battery with the writing side facing down. Any comment? However on another subject, what is strange is that my dash warning is still on when I enter my car saying key battery low-replace soon. Unless someone here has the answer for that issue, I will have to search on-line or call my dealer to get rid of that warning. BTW, my new CR2025 batteries have a best before date of May 2021 so I think they should be fine unless they were sitting in the store too long before I bought them a few months ago (in Feb. 2020) and are not fresh enough for the purpose of the warning...?
Is there some way to get a replacement for the metal piece that holds the batteries? My son dropped his, it broke open and he did not get that part so now it doesn't work.
It's not absolutely necessary but that is what you would use if you were locked out of your car if the fob died. There is a slot by the door handle to insert.
