Very cool. I cannot wait to see when you make a flea weight combat robot.

They make autonomous "nano Sumo" battle bots. They are nano weight for sure, 25g max, 25mm^3. :) www.robotchallenge.org.cn/doc/en/RC-Sumo.pdf edit... just realized he mentioned the flea and nano. I didn't know there was a "flea weight" class!

This was so nice to watch. It gladdens what's left of my heart to see these tiny, insanely powerful batteries in use by ordinary, regular guys at home ['ordinary, regular'? No offence intended, Ben!] and not boffins in secret research laboratories. My earliest fighting robots were built in 1987 - horribly crude things with monstous lead-acid batteries for drive, feeble 12v motors, and dodgy nicads for the radio gear. Truly awful - as were the bodged-together mechanical (!) speed-controllers. Yuk. Our unofficial 'Century fight-club' decided on a 100 lb weight limit and a £100 budget. We had to go large because there was no chance of making any small or beetle-weight or ant-weight robots - there was no way to power or drive them, so everything had to be huge and as heavy as a concrete badger's bum. Lithium-polymer technology has opened up a whole new world for modern builders, and that's incredibly important because it's made it totally normal for young people to get interested in robot design, fabrication, and electronics. And if I'd had access to the internet when I started out (didn't exist) and top-quality RU-vid channels like this (didn't exist either; Ben probably hadn't even been born), I'd have made far fewer mistakes while putting my first bots together. Might not have had quite so much fun finding out how things worked, though... ;-)

I know this is an older video, but I hope you still check to comments. What do you do about low voltage protection for this? Does the protection circuit on the two new batteries handle it?
@TeamPanicRobotics
@TeamPanicRobotics 6 лет назад
Honestly I dont normally worry about low voltage protection. I only use lipos for combat robots that fight for a maximum of 3 minutes, so I simply make sure they have enough capacity to last 4 minutes and charge them between fights. In theory the low voltage protection should be fine, but I haven't tested it

Awesome video mate, ignore the know it all's, geez I was impressed with your solder setup! What was starting MAH on each of the small 1s batteries? And then what is end MAH for the combined 2s battery? Sorry if it was in the video or if it is obvious. Thanks
@TeamPanicRobotics
@TeamPanicRobotics 3 года назад
The starting packs where 80mah and I soldered them in series, so the voltage doubled while the capasity remained the same, so it should be a 80mah 2s pack

i followed this and made a 2s the balance lead is not correct my lipo charger wont read it or charge it i used the middle wire with the neg and pos from lipo like you did

also , what might be a good/useful idea is to just solder up a harness , so you plug them 2 lil lipo's in the harness , and it functions as a 2S lipo . this way , 1 lipo can be on a different spot then the other one . let's say your build is very tight , and this could be a nice solution
@TeamPanicRobotics
@TeamPanicRobotics 4 года назад
You could do that, but it would add an extra gram or two. So it depends on your priority for the build if you have a tight build a harness would work well if you need to lose weight directly soldering the batteries is lighter

do i use the middle wire mine has a red at one end and 2 black
@TeamPanicRobotics

That sounds like a non-standard plug. So dont trust that the red wire is in the correct position
