I'm building an enclosure for my tegu and already bought the same track but I was struggling with how much of a difference I needed. Thank you sooo much.
This helped with making my cage! I'm working on a white lipped python cage. Definitely cheaper but harder to do. 😅 we dont have the snake yet, but I want it built before we have it so it's done
What did you use for the glass handle that was on the enclosure above the one you were working on to help slide the doors open and shut? Thank-you for the video.
I used clear bumpers by everbilt from home depot. My glass was so thin that my lock would sag so I added the bumpers to increase thickness. I've had the plastic part break off on one of my showroom locks as well. The screw was able to anchor on to the bumper with no problem so I didn't have to replace the lock.
have you encountered any issues with the track now? I'm a bit concerned about the use of hot glue, you clearly know what you're doing and I dont doubt it worked for you but I wanna install glass sliding doors in a glass enclosure and idk if gluing the tracks down will work??? if that makes sense??? lol i'm a newbie at this forgive me if I sound dumb.
You can also use silicone instead of hot glue. They also have gorilla glue hot glue sticks. I've moved my enclosures twice since this video and they've held up fairly well. I've only had issues with the glue on a bottom track of one of my enclosures.
I just used some gorilla brand hot glue on my plastic track to adhere it to some plywood. It’s on there strongly. I can’t pull it off even if I try. The plastic would break before the glue gives out.
Would that fit on top of 1/2 inch thick plywood and is there any of space between the two sheets of glass cuss I will need my enclosure to maintain temperatures
The window track I used is 3/4 inch in width so it might hang over. I've changed my glass since this video and with my new, thicker glass, there is a little less of a quarter inch gap between the panes due to the separation of the two lanes on the track.
@@chuckwalla325 I ended up replacing the lip and top and ordering new track. Enclosure turned out really functional and useful, but I never added the trim or stained it like I had planned to so it was a bit unsightly despite having used maple.
So I originally got my glass from Lowe's but it was too thin. A couple of months ago I invested in glass from a local shop and its much better. I would look up someone local to you. My guy specializes in glass for furniture but was still able to help me with my enclosure glass.
Whatever it is its really thin glass from Lowe's which I don't recommend. I just recently switched to glass I bought locally thats 0.25 inch thick and it slides very smoothly in the track whereas the other used to dig into the plastic track.
