Im going to give you a brief video on how I installed a fuel and temperature gauge from intellitronix.
Parts: Fuel and water temp bar gauge from intellitronix.com
Female connector- IL-AG5-10P-S3T2
Male connector- IL-AG5-10P-S3C1
socket crimp pin- IL-AG5-C1-5000
Terminal pin- SO7-46
All could be purchased at digikey.com
Heat shrink butt connectors
Heat shrink terminal connectors
Bullet style connectors
Also you would need blue translucent paper
Tools: Philips and flat head screwdriver
Dremel tool set with plastic cutting bits
heat gun
wire striper/crimper

Your a god, I have been searching for replacements but it’s too damn expensive I thought about doing something like this but didn’t know how to go about it

Thanks. There was 2 other examples of custom gauges I have seen and wasn't much info on how to mount/wire them. So I hope anyone who sees this can use it in a pinch or backup. I also have a few stock gauges that I want to restore.

It's cool there are alternatives. I just redid the solder joints on my factory gauges and they started working again. If they have been off for a few hours then it does take several minutes before they finally light up. I'm thinking maybe a faulty capacitor somewhere.

Yeah capacitors will go our part of the board will burn out. I have a few EL gauges that stop working a bit differently. So far I had no success fixing the capacitors. These boards do require some skill to pull things apart cause of it's age and that's where I have a hard time.

@@mattlichenstein4791 I have 2 boards that could be repaired, so I'm going to give the job to someone who has more knowledge and better equipment. I don't think my tools are cutting it. Hopefully you can figure it out. There is probably more bad capacitor that you can't see.

I wonder if OLED displays emulating the original gauges would look as good as the original ones. One could even swap the colors then. I just bought a BB2 with working instruments but it would still be a cool project.

Do you have a video of you cutting those pieces both the one with the blue film and the brownish one? What tools did you use?

I don't have video on cutting the blue translucent film and the brown gauge cover. But I used a Dremel to cut the plastic around the gauge cover. You will need to take your time with a short cutting wheel as to not damage the brown screen on the other side. The blue film you can easily purchase some. I used a extra from another gauge I had. I used scissors to cut them but they are very fragile and want to shatter if too much is cut at a time.

So does it show the entire fuel range? Based on the ohms it seems like it’ll be off right?

It shows half a tank. So 0-50% I have it set up. You can get the full range through different wiring but the gauge will read backwards

If you're talking about the fuel/temp gauge color I don't think you can change the color. You can change the translucent sheet that sits in front of it. but the gauge will always be green behind it.

So, the yellow wire (factory wire) is the fuel lvl from the sending unit?

If you look at the factory picture D4 is yellow/white that goes to the fuel level. The = means what wire on the aftermarket gauge it goes to. so factory letter/ number=aftermarket color. In this case D4(yel/white) = (goes to) yellow.

www.workshopservicemanual.com/m007271-honda-prelude-bb4-1992-1996.html here's the factory service manual for the 4th gen prelude. It's free to download. Page 23-129 has the factory wiring layout. Now when you buy the gauges they will come with their own wiring diagram.

As long as the ohms are right they shouldn’t have a problem connecting it to the oem harness and should read as accurate as oem??

Correct the gauge has to be able to read the correct ohms and the full range of ohms. For my gauges to read correctly it's only taking advantage of empty to about half a tank.

According to there website these are 2 and 1/16 which equals 52mm. Are yours digital or analog?

If there is a way to switch the ohms from 240-33 to 33-240 it would work perfect. If you can't reverse the ohms then the fuel gauge will read backwards empty tank will show full on the gauges.
