Hi , what do you think about the mounting type ? I mean is it better mounting the speakers from the front ? like ENGL , or mounting from the back like Mesa and bugera ? I think about the foam in front of the speaker and the resonance results ... thanks bye
@adamunderwood3337
@adamunderwood3337 6 лет назад
how did you install the grill frame? Just glue it to the baffle or screws through the baffle from the inside of the cabinet?
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 6 лет назад
It's not really fixed in place 😂 I made it barely fit, so it's stays in place by itself. Since the cab is only for home use I'm okay with this. It weighs approximately 2 metric tons, so it'll stay at home.

where did you buy the plywood(multiplex platten, wait...is that one word??)? I live in germany as well(Ami) but have not found any place to buy plywood... also, is there a link to a diagram for the speaker wiring? also, also, what speakers did you use? celestions or what??? I clearly want to make my own cab, had to leave my 4 x 12 in america when I moved here..
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 5 лет назад
justin barrett look at Bauhaus or Hornbach! I don't have a diagram since I re-used the speakers and wiring of an old ENGL cab that I gutted. It has Vintage 30 Speakers by Celestion.

Are those stock Carvin pickups? I have been looking for other options to put in my Jackson B7. The cab turned out great! Is there a reason you decided to butt joint the sides together versus finger or dovetail joints?
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 6 лет назад
Yep stock Lithium pickups! I did this noob joint because I've almost never done woodwork before and this was way easier for me and faster. I built this thing in 5 days from scratch.
@colejustesen

That cab turned out great with the amount of woodworking experience you claim to have. Great job on that! I think I am going to look into the Lithium pickups. Thanks for replying!

What kind of file was that you used to put the curves on the edges of the cab, they came out pretty professional? Nicely done! I’ve just been peeling, sanding and staining already constructed cabs myself. I did a Line 6 with Celestion V30s and am about to start on a Krank Krankenstein one soon.

Curious if you'd make a more detailed video of the build process. Details about why you did certain things, parts used etc. I've watched quite a few videos on the internet and there are things you've done that I haven't see in others. Did you design everything yourself or did you borrow some ideas from plans.
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 5 лет назад
Tyler Newstead I mentioned tube-town in this video, where I got the tolex and the corners etc. I gutted and old ENGL cab for the speakers, which were my only reference for the measurements. It's just a wooden box in the end haha
@volltroll
@volltroll 7 лет назад
Good work! How are the measurements? Have you tried it without the insulation? Have you build any stabilisation middle piece in it? I built a 2x12 with 18mm birch plywood. Specs are like the closed back orange. Sounds nice but cost 550€ including the speakers, which is a used 4x12 Marshall... :/
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 7 лет назад
If you pause the video at around 0:28 you can see the sketch with the measurements on the right. Top and bottom: 35x75, sides: 35x 71,5, back and front: 71x71 (Everything in centimeters) and 18mm thickness overall. I know, I didn't have to buy the speakers and even used some hardware from the old cab so I spent around 200€ for woods and tolex etc. Speakers are really expensive but also the most important part of the speaker. I haven't tried it without isolation on the back. I think it just can be better with it (but I could be wrong). You're right for that price you get an decent used cab but is the Marshall as good as your own built cab? Plus yours is unique AND you just crafted this thing with your own hands. My next project will be a 2x12!

i need help i want to use my hd500 in amp for upcoming concert. i get the hd500 into poweramp loop thing but i want to know about the setting we have to do in Hd500 for that (output setting, 1/4" out ) and other thing.
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 7 лет назад
1/4 inch out goes into the return of your fx loop of the amp! There's no need for other settings I think. Just disable your cab on the POD.
@ashiz5906
@ashiz5906 7 лет назад
thank you.. and what about the amp/line switch which should i choose, i don't think i would have much time there in stage for sound check so i want to sound best as possible.

@MilianMalivukMusic

isolating the back panel reduces sound reflection inside the cabinet and make it sound tighter

Why did you take down the video for that 8 string you did recently?
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 7 лет назад
Jake Lavery: I had some discomfort with the luthier because of quality issues. I sold the guitar 3 weeks after getting it and took down the video because I did not want to lead attention to a brand I wasn't satisfied with. I didn't want to be dick and bitch around though.

@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 7 лет назад
Andrzej Kossuth I've never built anything like this before. I got minor experience with how to handle some woodwork tools but not much. I basically learnt by doing step by step. In fact it's just a box in vinyl with speakers in it. I think if you use some brains and don't have two left hands it should be possible for anyone :)
@mysordowns01
@mysordowns01 6 лет назад
How much did this cost entirely?
@MilianMalivukMusic
@MilianMalivukMusic 6 лет назад
Well the old ENGL cab was 350€ (totally beaten up and abused). This is less what 4 V30s would cost new. I think wood, glue, tolex and smaller stuff like the corners added up to around 160€ maybe, I can't quite remember. I have a lot of tools at home because of my dad, otherwise you'd have to lend tools from friend's like I did for the saw for instance. I'd calculate around 500€ (speakers are the most expensive component) and A LOT of time.

@Milian Malivuk Music You should try removing the back of the cab, and put in the corner of the room 1 meter away from the corner. You can also do it in front of a flat wall. You'll have to play with the EQ a little. My 4x12 sounds terrible with the back on it compared to open. Thats for all genres especially metal. The bass is way tighter and deeper, and the sound fills the room. At least TRY it. Im sure its different for different cabs.
