I describe and demonstrate a homemade microbalance for use in gold ore assaying. I weigh an actual gold/silver bead. Keywords: Gold ore, gold assay, analytical balance, microbalance, DIY analytical balance.
This is a very cool project. Would it be possible to share the circuit diagram, as well as more details about the coil and the construction in general? I would love to try to reproduce it myself. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Hi William, Are you planning on making an analytical balance? This project will require craftsmanship and experience in electronics, and some test equipment. I don't want you to start and then be disappointed. -- Dave
Damn you make some wonderful equipment. Can you not do some judicious filing so you don't need that flake of brass ? And what did you use to calibrate the scale ?
Thanks! You know, perfection is the devil in the ear. I don't want to break the wire. It's easy enough to replace, I think... but.. . I used these excellent calibration standards: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K7F7D8K/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A1OJVFAYDI0NY7&psc=1 I'm working on a better model. We'll see how it turns out. -- Dave
