Super cool. I’m a pastry chef at a deco styled hotel built in 1921. The lobby is its original deco style and our elevators look like that. I’ll be trying these ideas for when I make my table display for menu items and themes. Thanks! 👌🏻

Normaly I’m not that into art deco but I loved your projects! That black and gold tape peeling was amazing! Just a note: 1” is the same as 25,4 mm/ 2,54 cm. In the video you’ve written 35 mm. (Pretty sure it’s just a typo but thought I should point it out just in case) 😊 Thanks for a great video!! ❤️

When your tape is strong, or if you leave it attached too long: You can warm it with a hair dryer for easy removal. It only has to be a bit warm to the touch, but not hot, for removal. I've found different tapes can handle different temperature ranges, and masking tape works best.
@katiefiszman6461
@katiefiszman6461 4 года назад
Very cool, will get hold of some gold and silver pens, I think 👍🏻 Handy tip re masking tape that’s a bit too sticky (learned this one from a painter friend of mine) - before sticking it down, take the strip of masking tape and stick it on and off your clothes a few times. It gathers a little bit of fluff which deactivates the main stickiness so it won’t rip the surface away with it.

My hubby and I absolutely adore Art Deco style. Our house was built in 1925 and has Art Deco elements - an original fireplace - I have put my genuine Art Deco clock in the centre and a repro matt black lamp in the shape of a lady holding a globe on one side. We have Art Deco door furniture upstairs but unfortunately it was removed downstairs. In our old house, which was more modern, I decorated our dining room in the style, painting black lines to form panels on beige and cream walls, with geometric corners. I found an Egyptian style rug for the floor. I am so thrilled to have seen this video of yours, and will check out your Pinterest board! I love how you built up your patterns, and that black and gold panel is stunning... So many ideas!! I also love the Art Nouveau style if you feel like exploring that - very sinuous and elegant, with none of the bold angles of Art Deco. All great stuff! Thank you so much for sharing.

This is great! Two of my favorite periods have always been Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Tiffany stained glass crossed over both eras. Perhaps a stained glass-themed project?

I love the Art Deco period and will/have definitely included these in my bujo..... but I love the Art Nouveau period more - the curves and nature inspirations. I would love it if you did some of them. I'm struggling with doing an original Mucha-esque piece for my bujo and have ended up just copying a colouring page. But I still have dreams! (Also a big fan of William Morris).

I love Art Deco style; in August 2019 we had a 90th birthday party for our Mom with 20’s and 30’s motifs and decoration, playing on her birth year by “partying like it’s 1929!” (before the crash 😄) Other patterns that intrigue me are Celtic knot designs. I have tried to incorporate some into my projects.

I saw many watercolor artist use the heat of a hairdryer to make the peel of washitape easyer. The heat melted the glue slitly, so it didn't hat a strong connection to the watercolor paper but still with the tape.

I love it! Have you looked at illuminated manuscripts from the middle ages? I've always wanted to make my own, but I don't know where to start.
@ElentariRose
@ElentariRose 4 года назад
Ha, you're my kind of person! I've made a Medieval manuscript once before and would love to do it again! I'd say, start with research. Learn how Medieval artists made their books and figure out how best to imitate that with modern materials. Look at manuscripts from different countries and time periods and find out which ones you like best (French manuscripts from the 12th century don't look the same as English ones from the 9th century or German ones from the 1400's). Everything will become more clear when you know a thing or two about Medieval manuscripts. Good luck!

Art nouveau/jugenstil actually came a bit before starting off in the 1890s, whereas art deco was more of a modernisation of that. But your comment still made me chuckle haha

Love this! BLUE painter's tape will be your friend, and it comes in many widths, including 1/4". As someone said below, pressing it on your clothes a couple of times will make it less sticky. I'd worry about the hairdryer idea to help the tape release - you never know what it will do to paper, paint or other materials. Thanks!

I still have to rewatch it. From the first sight everything is okay, incredibly okay (a list of used, thorough filming) 😍 You've read my mind, or, to be clear, you formed a chaotic something in my head into a Thing)) Now I know what I have to do! (I am dealing with interior design of a new space, - it's gonna be smth between neoclassic & art deco. Now is a planning stage, and naturally it will end up with decorating solutions). And from the beginning I was wondering how to implement all of those great ideas (very costly), and already was thinking of DIY options (but more in furniture section, which obviously requires more effort, materials and time). Why don't I start from smth small and inspirational? Like Your Patterns!?💚 Thank you! Good luck with the channel 🍀

Someone mentioned Victorian era, which I approve of! I've been wanting to make a book for our family on our family history, the thing is, I need a bit of help Sealemon, if you don't mind. :) I'd love to see a real leather cover with paper marbled insides, and see how you would run with that, what stitching you would pick, etc. Would also be could how you would handle the procedure with marbled sides or ends. I apologise if you've done that already, but I would find it very interesting to watch! I plan on doing decorative carvings on it too, so we'll see how that goes. Anyway, just a thought! Thank you for all your work!
