Hi *Jennifer.* Hands down the finest scissors I've ever used are the *Japaense Kai scissors.* Needle-sharp, you get get a precision cut even with the very tip of the blades. Happy snipping!
i did this with regular sewing thread but unfortunately after about 3 years (still quite a while tbf) it's started snapping so i'm going to try re-binding it with embroidery thread. i also found that the thin thread digs into the paper and wears down the holes quite a lot over time, as well as being more prone to loosening and making the book feel flimsy, although this might have just been more of a skill issue on my end haha, would be interested in hearing if other people also found this to happen if they tried using thinner thread!
i actually learned how to crochet in school but i see this kit being super helpful for beginners (especially with the videos) and i think you did great for one of your first projects! 💖
I’m enjoying your back videos again. I agree with you about videoing becoming a chore, so it is nice to see you returning to your books. This is a binding I’ve not tried yet so am going to refer to this and your original tutorial. Many thanks, you explain well.
Any one can make sketch book binding for coffee table book size is 330 width and height is 390 mm with spine 33 mm. Each page is to treated as one signature. Paper thickness is 200 gsm.
That cutting matt. If its anything like mine it was made in Japan. Far superior to the more common green cutting mats. I have a A1 and its still going strong 11 years on. :)
