Great video. I recently purchased a cps vacuum pump as a backup but the fitting for the hose is too small. Where did source the hose fittings??

Why did you install a second pump? Does drag from going through the filtration system hinder the flow rate achieved from the supplied pump?

Question: Is the oil constantly running through the pump as you freeze-dry or do you still fill the oil up to the line in the window and stop the oil from coming in after it gets to the line? Is the instruction to fill to the line just to prevent the oil from spitting out all-over (been there, done that)? With your creative system the oil cant spit out.... is that the concept?

Great question! The oil moves through the pump (and our system) when the pump (and freeze dryer) is running. So we filled it as instructed, but then we also filled all of the tubes and pumps, because it added to the available space the oil can be. If we hadn't added the extra, then the pump would have been 'low' on oil, and could seize up. So you will need to prime any tubing you add with oil. And yes, adding too much oil can increase what gets spit out.

When we moved the oil stayed in our vacuum pump for about a year, we have cleaned the pump at least 3 time since and every time we use it the new oil comes our dark. Do we need to have it serviced or replaced?

Hey, Kevin! If you haven't done anything yet, I'd look into a deep clean of the pump or getting it serviced. I'd also look into setting up an automatic filtration system for the pump so that life gets easier in the future. If you've already done something, I'd love to hear what worked (and what didn't!).
