I've been married for 4 years and I regret not paying more for some wedding items. We got a very cheap, very bad photographer. We should have spent more time interviewing her and letting her know what we wanted. Any couple I meet now, my advice is to get a good photographer!
My photographer sucked too! She blamed us for her mess up and cried for an hour, says she got shots that I wanted but only got half of them.... She was rude to everyone too!
My sister just had a (DIY) backyard wedding at our parents house. I will say, though, that when you have a huge family--I am one of 6 kids--that makes pulling it off a lot easier. My dad cooked the food and my parents did the backyard prep and lights, and friends and family did most of the other stuff, even hair and signs etc. (hired: photographer, people to help with drinks, and friends and family to help with serving).
Girl, I love watching all of your videos! I love that it goes from Jiu jitsu to travel & now to wedding planning. Congratulations to you & to your husband ! 🎉
We are building side by side outhouses for the wedding! I want one by our garden so I don’t have to trek back to the house when I’m outside anyway!! They are super easy to build!
I love all the tips! Personally, I am planning on having the least amount of waste as possible, but there are so many helpful things in this video, thank you!!
This is so helpful and I’m in New York so even more helpful 😩👏🏾 got engaged last year trying to plan this wedding is a lil stressful for me this helped
You said having a dj on both wedding videos corny. I think having a live person via band or dj at a wedding makes a huge part in ppl having fun in the reception. I think having a playlist at a wedding is corny but that's why wedding's should be personalized. Gotta do what works or make sense
😫😫😫😫 Imma wedding dj But I don’t think I’m corny 😂😂😂😂😂 I also customize the playlist based on the songs/ song genres that the client provides And then blend in top 50 hits past and present Happy you ended up finding one you liked
Catering came to about $3,500. We use Hickory BBQ in Kingston and they were AMAZING. We had about 4-5 servers, a bartender and they brought their own grill to make a lot of the food on site. Couldn't recommend them enough if BBQ is something you'd be interested in!
Well, the beauty of designing your own wedding is you can make it however you want 👍🏻 I didn’t want my dance floor in the dinner tent. I had plenty of seating around the backyard, including a fire pit next to the dance floor with seating all around. So there were plenty of places to sit for whoever wasn’t dancing 😬
I'm not sure if I missed it, and I'm sure it's different depending on where you live, but how much did you spend on all of the rentals for 60 people? Thanks!
The rentals came to $7,400 - much more than I expected, but maybe I was just naive lol. Well worth the price though! That included 2 big tents, heaters (which we didn't use because it was 80 degrees lol), 2 bathroom trailers, tables, chairs, linens, etc.
Happy it was helpful!! We were lucky in that where we had the wedding, the house is located on a road with pretty wide streets and because it’s in a wooded area, there’s just so much space and open parking on the big road. We let people park wherever on the road, but it could be helpful having someone direct guests on where to go!
We are having our wedding on our property and plan to do parking in the middle of the property and the ceremony on one end with the cocktail/reception on the other. A few people who have difficulty walking can park close to the ceremony site and drive over to the reception area. I think it really depends on what your property looks like. I have known of at least one person who hired a shuttle service to shuttle from a nearby parking lot to the property.
A lot more than I planned to! Lol. We spent around 18k, give or take. And that was with photography and my dress gifted. I suppose that's still MUCH cheaper than your typical big venue wedding. Everything just really adds up, especially paying all of the vendors at the end and all of the last minute things.
You actually don’t have to do anything you don’t want to…… Hiring servers made MY day smooth and allowed me to not have to worry about anything. These are just my suggestions.
I agree with everything you did for your wedding and want to have pretty much the same at mine. Its a marquee wedding in Ireland. Hiring costs are coming in mind boggling expensive. But i dont want to cut out anything as it will only cause stress for me on the day. Majority of guests are travelling from other parts of the country so cant rope them in to help. Not sure its something ill be able to justify the cost of 😔
I am in the process of planning a wedding and sooo nervous we just wanted to get a family’s together and make our 10 year relationship official. I wanted it just to be him and I now it’s turning out to be both of our big family’s over 80 people 🤦🏻♀️🙏🏼 it’s in my sister-in-laws back yard that’s all we have so far. Lol
