Regina, I did it! I followed your steps and took the measurements you gave me and built my wall and it looks fantastic. Best thing I ever made in my life. My neighbour saw it cuz I was making so much noise and loved it and I sent pics to my friends and none of them could believe I did it by myself. Again thank you so much for providing the steps and the measurements. You are a god send.
That was quick!! Oh Wes was NOT playing lol. I KNOW that feeling - tackling something that seems soooo complicated...conquering the intimidation of it all and finishing it with flying colors. I feel your joy. I am proud of you Wes!! You did it 🤗🤗
FINALLY! Someone who explained the measurement process in a straightforward, logical way. Thank you so much, this video is just what I have been searching for. You are a fantastic teacher 😊
Thank you for the kind words Charlene!! That's the goal of this channel - to simplify the complicated. I'm so glad you found this video; feel free to share it! I appreciate you 😊😊
This is the best video EVER! I absolutely subscribed to you. The way you teach and take it slow and explain everything and have the pages showing how the math works, is what I needed to get this started. I have been so worried I would mess up the wall. This was wonderful! Thank you so much!❤️
I’ve searched high and low for a tutorial on this that goes step by step for beginners. Best video on RU-vid explaining this. Appreciate it! I’m going to attempt it this weekend 😊
Lennie, I am so glad you found my video 🥳 because I was in your shoes before I created it. All my hard work is paid off whenever I get a comment like yours. You can totally do this and I can't wait to hear how it turns out 😊 Please feel free to share this video btw, I love reaching people just like you!
This video is fantastic. I’m a math person and I would have done the calculations the same way. I was goin to ask my contractor to do it but now I want to do it myself. I can’t wait! Thank you!
I had a contractor come out to give me an estimate on the accent wall I want for my guest bedroom. The wall is 120" x 90". He said it would cost me $1,565.00. WOW!!! I am so happy I came across your page, you given me the confidence to do the wall myself. Thank you.
Working on mine now. Will post a picture when completed! I'm so excited 😊 Thank you ladies for the encouragement "don't come to my page with doubt" LOL
I'm about to undertake the batten wall treatment to my whole house but half way up the wall. The math was explained in a simple to understand way. I've watched alot of these videos and yours and one other were so easy to understand and thorough. Thank you thank you for your video.
But you can Jonathan! You'll find great comfort once you've completed the grid - that means the worst part (the measurements) is behind you. Trust me, if i can do it so can you 😊
The beautiful part about this type of accent wall is that they don't have to be. If you conducted the hack I created, with the cardboard cutouts, you will get a good visual of how it would turn out. Rectangles look just as good as squares do 😊
That was the best analysis of doing this wall and to include visuals 👏 I APPLAUD YOU!!! I literally can not wait to attempt this in my new home. Thank you so much
I started in contstruction with my uncles when I was 11 and now 30yrs I’ve done everything and must say bravo, you did a fantastic job and Regina!! I do interior accents mostly now and must say your instructions are super thorough and should be easy for any amateur to do.
Tia Maria, you got this one!!! The MOST IMPORTANT step for me was to draw the outline on the wall first; it guarantees you've got the measurements correct first without damaging/wasting product. Download or save the video so you can easily refer back to it. Thank you so much!!
Regina, you are amazing. Like the little engine could do. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can do this. You made it so easy to follow. Wish me luck.
Fantastic! Can't thank you enough for producing this video and sharing it with the everyone. Your wall is fantastic and your explanations on how you accomplished it is amazing. Thank you.
I am planning on doing a wall like this and your encouragement in the beginning made me fell like YES I CAN DO IT! Giiirl, thank you for the breakdown of how to measure everything too haha.So helpful! I loved the video and watched it straight through without skipping. Your wall looks amazing and I now feel like I can do it too! :)
Nani - thank you so much!! I appreciate your honesty and kind words - you have no idea 😊 Your comment makes what I'm doing worth it. Welcome to the neighborhood!
Thank you Myrtle!! Honestly, I was very intimidated by this project but once I tackled/finished it, I vowed to help others be successful in achieving it. It still looks fabulous 😊 I just love it.
I just did the exact same wall. Black on black. Dang!! I wish I would have found your video first!! My brain was going to explode trying to fiqure out the spacing. Lol!! Beautiful job!!
Brilliant video! I just did my daughters room for the first time I totally understand that feeling of how proud u were I couldn’t believe it took no time! X
@@diymakescents160 Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I have re-furbished my whole house over the last few years and am trying to add little features here and there. Getting hold of a reliable workman is a nightmare in the UK. Thankfully my DIY store provide a cutting service so I will watch your video again in order to get everything precise. Really appreciate you x
Thank you, that was awesome! What a great job you did - loved your wall. So glad I found your channel - by far the best DIY tutorial I've seen for Board and Batten Accent Wall/wainscoting. I plan to do something similar in a room in my home. Your step-by-step is just what I needed! Feeling less anxious now :-)
00:10 - 00:20 seconds... lol, i love it!! your accent wall turned out beautifully... i adore this 'look' and am considering the 'renter friendly' version.. thanks so much for sharing the details especially the math!!. peace
Thank you so much Natasha, I keep hearing that lol. I'm just trying to make it easier for everyone who wants to tackle this project - it's totally doable!! Good luck 😊
Great video, and the fact that you actually take time out to respond to people is fantastic. I think whether you get squares or rectangles is going going to be determind by the width and height of the wall? If a wall was say 10 feet long and 8 an a half feet high would they need to be rectangles instead of squares? Not that theres anything wrong with rectangles.. Love the pace of the video too...👍🏾
I love the idea of rectangles. I've seen accent walls with them and they are equally as beautiful. The width and height of any wall can give you squares, they just may be bigger or smaller than what you'd like. Squares are totally doable with those dimensions, and so what if they aren't absolutely perfect (mine isn't) - no one will even notice. Thank you so much Pine!
Thank you Evan! The math is so important in getting this right and symmetrical; I felt explaining it was essential. I'm so glad you found this video helpful 😊
This wall would look amazing in a bedroom! I highly recommend downloading this video so you don't have to look for it or keep replaying it again. Best of luck Vanessa!!
Thank you Asuzena! That's exactly why I created this video. The math can be very intimidating when it comes to this specific project. I bet your wall looks amazing!!
You can totally do it Julie, trust me. When I successfully tackled mine, I was sooo proud of myself. Whenever you decide to take this project on, I'd love to see the finished product (feel free to email me)! I've gotten several pictures from people and they all look amazing!
Very good learning video, has really interesting points of measurement, tools to use, and creative concepts. Thank you for this video and many more to come.
I appreciate the math, but the biggest takeaway was seeing the actual MDF board in the store. I wasn't sure, if people were buying large sheets like plywood and ripping them down, or what. I did this in one of my bathrooms (to experiment) and I used 1x2s. I hated it. It is taking so much time to make the paint smooth because of the nature of the wood including flaws from the mill. Many were not apparent until they were primed. Tiling is next. Wish me luck.
Hey Brie, thank you Boo! You could totally remove this; you'll just need a 1) metal scraper to pop the boards/ remove the glue and 2) everything else you'll need to repair drywall - joint compound, sander, etc. It'll take some time and effort but totally doable 💯
@@diymakescents160 did you use a hammer or nail gun? If so what nails went through the MDF? And which gun you use? Sorry if you mentioned it i didn’t catch that.. thanks for your information!
I can't remember if I used nails or screws, but if you heard me say nails, I used a hammer. I marked the location of the studs on the boards and nailed them in until they poked thru the other side (to help speed up the process), at that point I took the board over to the wall and secured it in. I hope that makes sense.
