Ok not only to this video but thants to this video i have done all project.I have build my book scaner with very cheap materials and with deferents softwares i got very good resaults .Thanks again.I did it.
I didn't know there was a Mac option until I read the comments. This literally just made everything so much easier because my family's PC moves about as fast as grass grows. (it's just old, really.)
I just recently did a 600-page textbook, so I know how you feel. As long as your source is good (i.e. lighting, good alignment, etc) then minimal adjustments in Scan Tailor is possible.
Fantastic tutorial. Thanks for uploading. I just want to make a comment: To ensure quality of PDF source images must be captured in tiff or bmp format, and never use jpg. The source images should be 300 dpi, and provided they are in color, regardless of whether the original text is black and white. Greetings.
fyi, the "play" button functions as batch processing for each of the step. (for my purposes--as shown in the video--I just go from step2, step4, step5, and step6 if you set the camera parallel to source, so for example, if you have a lot of pages, you don't have to adjust each individual page).
Recently acquired a Canon A810 so I could use the usb remote trigger (chdk) and a 10 watt daylight led bulb, now that yellow tint is gone and a 950 page text book can be shot in about 2.5 hrs. The A810 is 16 mp but really not much improvement--via naked eye--than my old 12 mp GE camera besides going from about 310 dpi to 430 dpi, which I output at 600 dpi b/c I'll then OCR down to 300 dpi (again almost no difference vs. 600 dpi OCR output).
pls help. I cannot get past this alert in the output screen. It reads "output is not yet possible, as the final size of pages is not yet known. To determine it, run batch processing at "select content" or margins". I looked under "select content" or margins" and there is no option to run batch processing!
Thanks to this video and not only..i have done the all project.A used canon camera and instal the CHDK,the bookscaner build and the scantailor software. Its fandstik the all thing and the resaluts you get from this. Again thanks for the helping video. Only one question. What software do you use to create the pdf file from the tiff images? Thanks again.
2012? was doing this 2005. Made ebook on Acrobat. Also used OneNote. Didn't have to carry all my text books. Only my Toshiba Satellite Convertible. And before then an Palm. Much more simple was to find a previous text book edition that was digital. pirate bay
Funny, I got the idea in 2006 from a classmate, but after moving a few times, I finally thought to myself it'd be nice to reduce four boxes of college works down to the size of a usb flash drive.
pixi glass is to flatten the page. Choose white/sunlight LED to get rid of the yellowing seen in the video (which uses CFL). Physical set up should be based on one's "environment."
Thanks. Your solution works. But, may I ask you people here a couple questions which would help me improve my scanned book? 1) Some books look fantastic but the size is small, like 17 Mb. I think it's because of fonts. No matter how I zoom the font it maintains its clear edges, like it's some vector image. Question: How do I make a .pdf book with such vector fonts? 2) On some .pdf files it's possible to highlight and copy the text from the page. But my file doesn't let me do it (I use Adobe Reader and often I can copy the text from many other books). Question: How do I create a .pdf book where I can copy the text? PS Thanks again.
1) Are you complaining about clear fonts or that you think those clear fonts end up making your final product huge in size, such as 200 Mb instead of say 20 Mb? 2) You can't copy text in your final product because it is still an image: you went from Book.jpg to Book.tiff to Book.pdf. You need to OCR it so the text will become searchable--google for some free programs.
R2Mintus 1) I don't mind that much unless the resulting file is bigger than 150 MB, so the size isn't such a big issue. 2) I have Acrobat Reader. Maybe you know how to vectorise fonts while saving the pictures' quality? If not, what are those programmes you meant? PS Free or paid - it's not a problem.
@LiberalD2 -- Sounds like you're pressing the arrow at Output without having first done it for Margins. Click the arrow at #5 Margins, let it process each image, THEN when it's finished, click on Output and click the arrow next to it. It will produce an image for each page/image of our document.
Why is there a girl stripping at 3:17?🤨 Also, good tutorial on using the software but I’m afraid the result is kinda crap quality. If you’re gonna take the time to scan a full book, I would hope the final scan would not look bad like that...
