Here is a way to make a bowfishing arrow and reel from junk around the house. Using a fiberglass rod for electric fence and a coffee can with some string to make a simple setup to hunt carp and other invasive species.
I tried this and my line wouldn't come off the reel smooth enough to be effective... It would slow the arrow down and cause it too fly out of control.. What am I doing wrong?
You will loose some arrow speed but it should fly straight. Make sure your line is wrapped evenly and not too tight. If you used a piece of metal to keep the string in place make sure it’s not too stiff to hold it back when the arrow is shot or catching the string as it goes by. I’m sure you already checked all that but without seeing it I can’t tell. I hope you get it figured out. Good luck
