I created a built-in breakfast nook from leftover upper cabinets in my kitchen remodel! This banquette was extremely easy to make and provides a lot of additional hidden storage in my cozy kitchen. Blog post: www.welcome-to-the-woods.com/...

You're doing an amazing job, Melissa. It's a LOT of work, but it definitely pays off when you're more comfortable in your own home. Plus, there's that satisfaction that you did all the work yourself. Something to be proud of. That painting came out great too.

Glad to see your working smarter and not harder Melissa . When you work alone ...muscles, tools, tricks, technique and experience are invaluable .

I love your vision and execution, and especially appreciated the bit about reusing the cabinets. All the little details you put into the refinishing really helped bring the whole nook together. The painting you did was the most incredible ending. That's beautiful!

Glad to see the new workbench! It's so handy. You can also purchase legs for most table saws, it would be great to have it up off the floor. I enjoy watching your projects! Love the colors and design of this project and great that you were able to repurpose the cabinets.

I do love the color you used Melissa, it looks great in the “finished product” pictures as well. I have never really desired a miter saw stand enough that I would buy one, but all the uses you found to put that 5 in 1 work station through has definitely made me want one! Oh, and I had no clue either about that zipper-tape either! I almost want to take up sewing just so I can see how many ways I could find to use it!!

It’s beautiful. Great job. 😊 I totally understand how you feel about that old flooring. I’m currently renovating my kitchen and I’m going through the same thing. I really believe they actually used over a million staples. 😂 it’s a 1/4” ply over a old linoleum on ply. Luckily you have your son to help. I’m doing this all by myself.

Love the design and recycling of old cabinets! You CAN be stronger if you use your legs rather than your lower back muscles. It's not as elegant but arching your lower back inwards will give you more lifting power - especially if you avoid reaching over to lift things.

As a carpenter, I can attest that finding these floor upon floor "treasures" with unbelievable amounts of fasteners, staples or tiny nails are among the "nightmare jobs" tbh. No shame in getting help for that, and cool that you're being honest about it.
