DIY Cardboard Dollhouse Cottage for Sylvanian Families

In recent years I've developed a passion for making dollhouse crafts from scratch, so I thought I'd attempt to make a DIY video with this simple cottage for Calico Critters, Pop Mart, and other small figures.
Pardon the super dry, hands. I moved way up north, it's winter, I wash my hands a lot, and my skin hates all of those things.

This was a really well made diy sylvanian house, good job! I especially loved the detail of how neatly the top floor pulls out for easier access, very nicely executed!

Thanks so much! I wanted to build some kind of detail into the structure with the window and door frames and different textures so the house wouldn't be too plain. I actually enjoy "playing" with the house, setting up different figurines and props/furniture for photos.

Wow! What beautiful, meticulous work! Very finely crafted. I’ve used foam board to create dioramas for both 1:12 scale and Calico Critters. Also have a dollhouse kit I’m turning into a gingerbread house. I’ve used similar material from egg cartons for the stonework. You did an amazing paint job on the stones! Everything about the house is great. Such nice details for the doors and windows. Love the roof. I can appreciate how long it took you to do this - and so neatly, too. Thank you for finding my videos so I could find you back. Really soothing video to watch, too. Keep up the exceptionally creative work!

Thank you very much 😊 Sounds like you're quite a crafter yourself! The house was a bit tedious to make, took about 3 weeks in the mornings and evenings before and after work, but it was very rewarding to finish.

It's a few pieces of scrapbook paper taped side by side. I think they came out of a couple of different paper pads I got from Walmart years ago.

Thanks. I don't have templates for it but it's about 11.5" wide, 6" deep, and 8" high

Thanks. I just used tacky glue. There is some mod podge on the stones but I secured them with tacky glue too.

Thank you. I didn't make templates with exact measurements on them so I'd have to remeasure the parts of the house, but the overall size is about 8.25" tall, 12" wide, 6" deep.

I just try to do the best I can and make sure my boxcutter blade is nice and sharp for smoother cuts.

I use Fiskars brand scissors. I think they are the "original" kind. They are pricey for scissors, but I've been using the same pair for several years, so worth it I guess.
