How To Build A Cat Tree With A Real Tree
UPDATE: If I could do it over I would use a stronger bolt to secure the tree to the base but it’s been steady and the cats lay on the shelves every day! Also I stapled carpet to the shelves and added more jute rope up high. They LOVE it. It was worth my efforts.
Tools and Materials:
I only had to buy screws and jute rope totaling $20. Everything else I had laying around.
1 small tree
1 heavy wooden base
2 wooden shelves with small scraps for support
Rug scraps
Jute rope 50ft
5 inch screws
2 inch screws
Saw (you’ll need a smooth cut at base of tree trunk to be flush when securing to its base)
Drill
Drill bits
Level
Screw driver
Rough sand paper
Gorilla Wood Glue
Box cutter
Staple gun
Cats
I had seen a TikTok of someone else making a DIY cat tree tower. I thoughts my cats would love their out cat tree so I made my own version.
