Tip for anyone doing this, drill a hole in the pipe and pass the rope end through the hole and secure with glue this way, same when you start there is no loose end to fray as it’s inside the pipe.

i followed this tutorial and it worked PERFECTLY! The only note I’d add is it’s easier to spin the PVC pipe and glue as the rope wraps itself instead of trying to manually wrap it around yourself. TY for sharing!

Great Idea ... I would use a pvc cap on both ends and glue the cap entirely for durability, as my cats love to scratch and they are pretty strong. Thank you for the great idea. Thank you for your inspirations and your efforts.

This is brilliant and far less expensive than the shelves they sell in the stores that are marketed for cat perches. These also look nicer and are more easily customizable than most of the other DIYs I've seen for this. I've been thinking of doing something like this for my foster kitten room and this is purrfect. Amazing job. Only thing I will say is there’s way better glues out there than hot glue. If you want a solid hold that will last many years I would’ve used PL premium fast grab and maybe just thrown some painters tape or even a clamp to hold it while it cures.

Thanks for the feedback. There is some cat footage in the beginning. The cost was probably around $15 for the pvc. The bolts are around $2 and the rope was around $6. I am making some more cat videos, so stay tuned. I’ll add more footage to that one :)

Whenever we put in new windows, I always add a 12" board on the bottom and put a cover on it so the cat can get up and lay by any window he wants.

I was wondering how you controlled your glue gun not to ooze glue out of it, as rapidly as mine does. Almost as frustrating having the blue poring out too quickly. Love the idea & by the looks of it, so do the cats.

I would do this project in a catio or porch, but not on the inside walls if the house. Then you'll have scratches and dirt with cat hair on the walls. Good idea, though.
