Whoa I so would love to have all the different equipment you have. I'm slowly adding new tools and supplies but I want it all! Just this summer I've learned that I want to try pyrography, polymer clay, soldering, welding, epoxy projects.. and now this! That looks so awesome! And so many different ideas to embellish it. All the gears are cranking away in my head like big ben lol

There IS black gesso, but most people just add black acrylic paint (or whatever color is needed) to the gesso.....Black Magic Craft taught me about THAT little hack! Loved this project, TFS!

Creatrix Corvus Arts I’ve both Ross’ Gesso paints and the thing that sets gesso aside from just garden variety black or white paints is that the gesso is VERY flat, an extreme matte finish which is what I want when prepping projects, canvas in particular.

16:53 you should try adding a tiny line of pure black and fading it out on one side, It'll give it a sharper contrast on the "elevated" part and add more dimension. Even though you used a thin foam you could probably dent it slightly to add dimension, like pushing it down with a flathead screwdriver or one of them leather working tools you have, held at a 30 ish degree angle. But that's just nitpicking minor details, the skull came out really good.

I know this is a little late. But I'd thought I'd mention it any way. You should check out Punished Props here on youtube. They make really cool foam armor and props and give tips in foam smithing.
