DIY CEMENT CRAFT PROJECT, Easy Step by Step Concrete Garden Statue

🛑*** IMPORTANT ***🛑 If you are keeping this statue outside all year round its very important that you add several layers of concrete to make sure that your statue doesn’t crack. I only added one layer because I’m placing my statue inside.

5 cups of fine sand
2 cups of Metakaolin
1/4 cup of PVA Fiber
Acrylic (1part acrylic 3 parts water) ** this stuff Is powerful* Its what binds everything together.

You did a really good job with him..and chose a good place in your garden so you can enjoy him. Maybe you need you need to work on taller totems already in the ground and just wrap them in plastic at the end of each days work...you spray with water before resuming again the next day.

Awww thank you so much. Don’t forget if you are going to leave the statue outside, make sure that you apply a thick layer of concrete. I didn’t do that because I didn’t want to add to much weight to my statue. Take care!

Does your concrete have any aggregate or admixtures? Aggregate probably wouldn’t pass through the wire mesh. I’m about to convert my wood garden bed walls to a concrete snake - this video is extremely helpful!!! And an incredible masterwork of a tiki sculpture!

It brings me great joy to know that you found my video useful. Yes, unfortunately it probably won’t work because it won’t go through the mesh that I used. Maybe using an hexagonal shaped woven wire mesh with a large opening will work best for you. Thank you for watching ❤️

@@artsandcraftchica Have you used fiberglass lath? I am going to just mix cement + sand, skip the aggregate, it's not like I'm building a bridge or driveway and need structural integrity.

No I have not used it. I agree, maybe you are over thinking it. I’ve done about 7 of these statues in my property in Miami, FL and 10 years later none of them have cracked.

Thank you for watching. The statue is 3 feet tall. 1 foot wide and about 60 pounds.

@@artsandcraftchica Thank you for the details. Have you ever tried this process without the mesh substructure? For example, what if I were to flip a trash can upside down and attach the features onto that base. Perhaps cement wouldn't stick to the smooth plastic. Considering what other materials could possibly work with your 3d applications.

@@genericrobin6597 good question. I have a new concrete recipe that might work with what you are trying to do. With this one Instead of using water to bind you use acrylic. I posted the recipe in the description a few days ago.

Szia! Nagyon jó lett a Tiki, és szuper a videó! Amikor elkészült a belsejéből ki tudtad venni a papírokat? Van alatta betontalp, vagy a földbe van lesüllyesztve? Mennyire áll stabilan? Várom a válaszodat és a következő Tikis videót. :)

A tiki körülbelül négy hónapja készült el. Ez a 10. tiki, amit készítettem. Otthonomban találhatók Miami Floridában. Talán egyszer majd készítek egy videót róluk. Igen, eltávolíthatja a papírt a tiki belsejéből, mielőtt bezárná a tiki alját. Nem raktam alá betont. Igen, a földbe van süllyesztve, de készíthetsz egy lyukat a földön, és adj hozzá betont, majd helyezd a tikit a betonba, így maradandó lesz. Nem azért tettem, mert magammal akarom vinni a tikit, amikor eladom ezt a házat. A tiki olyan stabil lehet, amennyire csak szeretné. Vigyázz magadra

Can you tell us the approximate weight? I was watching it to see if you could lift it with one person. I guess you can always roll it, but that would possibly damage what you made. Thanks in advance.

Hello, thank you for watching. I believe that it weights no more than 45lb. I’m 5”3 130lb and I was able to move it around the garden. Rolling it will damage the crown area.
