We completely agree. Building yourself can be a bit more expensive, but Allison uses it every single day for the last two years and not one piece has broken or failed. That also included a more across the country. Good luck and let us know if you have any question!

I like those big casters. Great choice! Safer, more doable. You also show how to make a furniture flatbed this way! I need one for my bookshelving in my small apartment. I use them as a portable wall. Dual purpose.

Thank you for this video. Very clear and simple. I need to make this for my sewing room. The one I bought from WM was flimsy, and after hanging a few items, it collapsed. I've viewed other videos, but they were rather lengthy and the work was labor intensive... but this one, I can do without calling my local fix it man. Again, thanks!

My only suggestion is to round the corners Of the wood, as they could be sharp. I really like this design though!

This is great! Is it possible to make the bottom shelf narrower due to space constraints? If so, what would be the recommended downsize? Can I use electrical conduit since that is what is available to me. Thanks for the inspiration.

I’m going to round my corners , mount all the way through add second bar . Tee out base both sides . Wheels look like they will scratch floors.

Thes instructions for a DIY Clothing Rack are the easiest to follow. My questions are: Does the attachment such as crossbar to elbows have to be screwed to the tightest point? The elbows don't point in the same direction at their tightest. Is it ok to leave one side not as tight as the other? Also, the flanges when screwed at the tightest leave the verticles uneven in length. What can I do about this?

Might use a pool noodle or two to cover the corners if you choose not to round them off

Riv and Al That's good to know because I'm half way through building my own clothing rack. The pipe work is done; I just need the pine or marine ply base and coaster wheels. 😀👍 I made mine wider 50' which should be enough for 40+ shirts and other stuff. Thanks again. 😊👍

This may be a random question, but how do you handle ventilation in your apartment when doing something like this? I always thought I had to stain outside.

I really like the finished product! If i could give a small suggestion, a quick sanding around the edges will really give you a huge jump in the finished look and make it easier to handle as well as prevent it from snagging anything in the future or giving you splinters if you run into it or bush against it. Great job!

We live near a highway so I would normally have the door open or staining outside, but the didn't have the room for the camera shoot outside on our porch :) So I kept going in and out and opening all the windows with fans. ha The things you do for RU-vid. Hi! How can I do this with plastic PVC pipes?? Please help. Will appreciate it a lot. I am building it for my daughter and she's an infant and will like to grab things when she grow older and I dont want a hard steel pipe hittinh her head when she grab her clothes..

Great idea! You could use the same size plastic PVC pipes you could get at a hardware store. Totally understand why you don't want the steel pipes. You might also consider replacing the wood board with something plastic. Fill the vertical PVC pipes with sand. It will add a lot of strength.

This looks way sturdier than even the ones for sale for double are. I am just wondering how much weight this thing could hold. Given it's all steel. I have a LOT of cloths so that's something I would need to take into consideration. Also would it be possible to have two cross bars? Adding another one maybe lower down?

Allison put all heavy canvas and sweaters/coats on it and we have never had an issue. Nearly loading it to the limit. The key is the wide-base. When there are not a ton of things on the rack, you might think it's a little too wide, but the width is key to not making it shifty with the weight. The length (your cross-bar idea) is a great one, if you were using for shorter garments. I know that the jackets, long cardigans, dresses, etc. use all the space with room to not be draped on the shoes below. Check out Allison's channel for for views of it here: ru-vid.com

Depending on how 'fancy' you want to get or some of the 'upgrades' as i called this in the video, it should cost you between $50-$75, maybe less.

Version 2.0 add a second offset row on the same size board. Double up on the hanging space without occupying more living space. Otherwise, good shit though
