With another lockdown in effect and thrift stores being closed, now is the perfect time to clean out the closet and upcycle a few articles that would otherwise be thrown out or donated.
I am fairly new at this, so join me on my journey of learning how to alter my own clothes!

Hey guys, how's it going? I'm Grace of Goodness Gracious and this is my description box! I am a Christian, a wife, a mother and a DIYer. I have a never ending list of ideas for builds, renovations, and all things Home and Garden, I also have a passion for clothing and upcycling! My husband Kevin has been telling me for years that I should start a RU-vid channel as a creative outlet and film my many DIY projects. I finally listened to him. I have some linen overalls similar to yours, and after watching your video I added elastic to mine. I didn't even bother making a casing for the elastic. I just used some soft 3/8" elastic and hand basted it right where the seam is between the top and the bottom. I never liked the no waist look on me because I'm not very curvy, but just that little definition at the waist makes a big difference. Thanks for posting the video!

A serger is what I need, brother makes some great affordable ones, it will cut the seam and give it a 4 thread overclock professional finish

My favorite method to distressdenim is a cheese grater! I fold the edge and go to town grating. Works great!

WOW i NEEDED this overall waist band elastic fix 🖤 my weight fluctuates and i cannot afford to keep as many clothes or keep replacing clothes as that requires. I didn’t want to run it right on the pants, so i think i will do the casing you did, and make it large enough for my buttonhole adjustable elastic! Thank you for these tips and tricks!

If I cant sew can i cut the top off my overalls and just wear a belt to make them pants? I'm really in need of baggy pants and they are super baggy but I dont want to make a mistake and my mom get mad since me and her are kind of low of money rn so we cant buy new clothes yet

You know you can take the blade off of the serger so it won't cut it.

What stitches did you use for each piece?

I'm not enough of a seamstress to know the names of stitches haha but just a basic straight stitch. I think some kind of zigzag would be strong for sure though!
