woah ive seen alot of diy videos, but your one is PERFECTION!! straight to the point and very enjoyable to watch!

I would have done a 1/4” to 1/2” plywood underlayment atop the cabinets and then attached the rockboard. This would ensure the sink weight, when it has water in it will be strong and it won’t deflect or stress the concrete top and possibly cause cracking/ spalling. If the cabinets are 33” tall then you need a full 3” top to get to 36” finished height.

That’s a lot of work, now I understand why it so expensive (in Flipping houses TV shows). I think the imperfections and the odd spots make it unique and stylish. Great work.

great job, I've found that vibration is a key to a great concrete countertop, you can carefully use a reciprocating saw without a blade as makeshift concrete vibrator. Also to have a finish without any voids even super small one, concrete topping can be used after the first pass of sanding/polishing with 60/80 grid.

Would love to watch a update on how it held up after a year!

The only thing I would’ve done additionally?: silicon caulk around the bottoms & edges of the foam forms prior to screwing then in-place. & (no joke intended although it sounds funny) I would have used a vibrating massage device from underneath several passes in lieu of just tapping the edges.

Turned out great. Thanks for showing the detail. You mentioned you would have like to have used a large screed. Would you have also done something different with the Styrofoam since it was higher than your finished surface?

My god that was a hell of a lot of work!!!!! I was tired just watching. I don't think any concrete counter out there is perfect!!! Maybe with some type of design/color in the concrete, it would hide the imperfections. If you have to have it perfect, that is. It turned out beautiful, Stefani. Excellent job as per your usual. Thanks for sharing. Loved attaching the dry vac to the sander. 💓

You should have used a food-safe concrete sealer. That sealer you have is not for counter tops.

Came out very nice. I wonder why you didn't put some reinforcement into the small strips in front of the sink. That looks pretty fragile to me.

I do love the idea of this stuff. Our bench is to large for a single piece of most bench top materials so the idea of this is perfect. I would have thought mesh would be needed along the thin sections in-front and behind the sink etc. How has that stood up over the years?

Amazing work, im sorry I have a concern though that with this system it seems people aren't pitting any reinforcement in the thinnest bit of concrete, a little piece of 10 m rebar, it comes in fiberglass now as well, across that bit in front of the sink or in other videos was a range top. That's a small brittle bit that needs something

Great work and skills. Maybe I would have gone with a "gray concrete look" and a matte sealer rather than trying to mimic "Corian" which even with the best effort and craft is practically unachievable on a DIY. An architect friend of mine did counter tops of kitchen and bathrooms on a 10 million dollar home just like that. It can still look luxurious and it has a velvety finish. It would have still looked great with your cabinets. Sometimes is better to accept the limitations of the material we are using and turns some compromises we need to take in features or good aesthetic. But you made a great solid work and thank you for sharing. Cheers.

Love these! Do you know what would happen if you modified the concrete to be more like terrazzo by adding shards of pottery or other stuff in there?

Excellent video, really clear and now i want to make one! Please wear a mask when you are mixing or sanding concrete though, the dust is really based for your lungs :-)
