really nice! I love the kid cave, which I'm sure they do too and no fear of them falling off, which happened to us! (don't worry, our 3 yr old was okay, but scary.)
Have watched hundreds of van layouts. Possibly the best utilisation of space I've seen for my family, hope you don't mind me copying...and ignore the rude, faceless, keyboard warrior haters, they are the spectators and you are the awesome show!
Thanks for finding a way to do RV life safely with kids. Most standard RVs are actually not made for car seats to be used and this is the perfect solution.
@@DIYLifeVanit's easy to fit three very little young children for bed space, however as they grow older they will outgrow the current bed space for sure. you will need to reconfigure then.
Definitely safer with the kids on the bottom bunk, just watch out for them accessing tools down there. It’s a beautiful and creative build. Especially for short jaunts.
Great build. Love all the little cubbies underneath and the streamlined storage. It feels open given you've not put upper cabinets on one side. Creating more space under the kids bed is a good idea (and it needs to be elevated anyway to prevent mold... same for your bed).
It would be great to put shower curtain as divider, to create a partition of sorts between bed and cooking area (especially during cooking time). Overall, looks comfy enough
Great build! My only suggestion is you put a lock on the door to the battery compartment. Perfect place to disobey parents and get in there to stuff toys or such, or just explore when the opportunity comes. Bravo on the build again!
Yes! That freaked me out. As well, gotta make sure the kids can't access the water/propane hookups on the opposite side when the back doors are open. Potential for kids-poking-at-stuff leaks, especially since propane sinks and kids are sleeping inches away. Otherwise, very well thought-out, and I would imagine these safety issues are in the plan but were just not yet implemented at the time of filming =)

Excellent build. The only thing is I would maybe put some type of hidden curtain for the potty. Also you need storage for a folding table and chairs when dining outside.
It's been great for us. No issues cooking. The fridge will last our family of 5 for about 3-4 days. You can always bring a cooler and place it behind the drivers seat. Thanks for watching. 🙂
I might be a bit biased since I have seen this van in person and know how much hard work you both put into it, but I think it's an extraordinary build. You have a real talent for building and since I have benefited from your skills I know that you are an exceptional craftsman. Can't wait to see your next project.
Not a bad idea! We originally had planned to continue the upper cabinets the whole way and use the long cabinet above the bench seat for the covers, but then we realized at the last minute if an adult were to ever sit in that seat by the window, they would hit their head on the cabinet everytime they got up. But we could do either your net idea or a shorter open shelf. The blocking behind the headliner is already in place. Thanks for idea and for watching! 🙂
What a great conversion!! My only advice would be to get a TV for the bedroom in the house as that may help not needing a 6 seater for the future ;) ;)
I would suggest also raising the kitchen as it seems too be super low , which must be uncomfortable on your back , plus you would have easier access to the fridge AND extra storage underneath 😀
We definitely thought about raising it when we built it, but we liked the idea of it being level with the window. It's not as low as it may look on the video. Great input though! Thanks for watching.
Double curtains for the shower, many people don't even think about that, those window coverings look they will go great with just a regular car as well. Especially if there's no a.c in the car, lol.

This is a beautiful build. The only thing I saw that could be an issue is not key locking the electrical panel. It being right there by the kids' sleeping and playing quarters seems dangerous. Things happen all the time with parents sitting right there and watching so being below and out of sight seems like a recipe for disaster, especially since they're all still in car seats.. A simple key lock could fix that for 10$.
Our kids are terrified of that cabinet. If they were to get into it, the worst that they could get zapped with is 12v which is equivalent to a bee sting. However, It would be pretty difficult to get shocked in that cabinet, you have to be touching both a positive and negative connection at the same time. It's very important to have easy access to the electrical cabinet in the case of a electrical issue. Thanks for watching. 🙂
I would put partition to prevent the grease and spill from cooking and also the curtains top and bottom for beds. Other than that I like everything of this build. It’s just great for big family to be able to go on the trip.
Incredibly clean and organized van for a family of five. Great job! Kindly move the cook top away from the mattress. Also tuck away the red wire/cable hanging near the kids' mattress. Sorry for giving unsolicited advice. I hope you don't mind. Love to you all.
Thank you for the feedback! Check out our newest video on our channel, it has this same layout with tons of upgrades, and the stovetop is moved to the other side of the kithcen counter. The red wire you are see in this video is actually the hose to the shower head, no electrical. But I can see why you would think that.
I love the lay out esp the bed for adults and kids(maybe for me since i only have a daughter I can just use half of the space for her bed and the back side will be for storage. The stove can be switched to sink though. The only think I would like to add is the wet bathroom..could be placed where the kitchen is and the kitchen will on the opposite side. And the dinette area can be bed convertible.
This is exactly what I had in mind...I think the only thing I'm concerned about is outdoor showers. Crazy people don't stop with curtains. I think I'd use the beach seating space as a wet bath...Might be a tight squeeze but a good safe alternative.
Yeah, you could easily add a lock to it if that was a concern. We showed our kids what was in the electrical cabinet and explained that it is very unsafe to touch anything. They never touched it once. But in reality, nothing in that cabinet is very dangerous except if you had the the inverter powered on which is never the case when they are down there sleeping. With yound kids, there is never privacy, even at home👀. However, a curtain could be added around that area. In our next build we will come up with a privacy method for resale purposes. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Fyi if you run into a bug problem on the floor (which most everyone one does) there are bug zapper led night lights you can plug into the lower bed platforn if you put the outlets in when you go to build it. 🤷🏼♀️
I think this is a great idea for families that like to travel and spend time outside. If they just use the inside to sleep and drive it's not a bad idea.
Omg. This is the best one I've seen yet. It's incredible 😍. But isn't that table a bit small? I would also get a bit bigger fridge. That's the only changes I would do. Wow!!!
Thanks! The table is the perfect size for the space. Any bigger and it would be difficult to move around it. It's snug but all 5 of us can eat on it with no problem. There is a potential of a bigger/taller fridge by losing the drawer above it. Thanks for watching! 🙂

is there danger of EMFs with the electrical system right there by the kiddos bed? I always wonder this with all the van builds, some people have their electrical either under their bed, or in proximity to their head...can anyone answer this? thank you!
Wires do not emit EMFs much beyond the insulation around the wires. The field strength drops rapidly with distance from the cause of the field. Source: I am a physicist.
I would also recommend adding weights, possibly even magnets, to the bottoms of your shower curtains so they don't easily blow around while you are showering. Looks like a very innovative van build! Good job!
I love this build! I have 2 kids and when we go camping one adult and one kid sleep in the van and the other 2 sleep in a tent. Can you build me a van just like yours please?😂
