Keep your fish and turtles safe from wildlife by building a custom pond cover. I looked for pre-made covers for our hexagon shaped above ground pond from Kim's Ponds and couldn't find anything. We used 2 wire grids but they were heavy, awkward and the grid holes still allowed owls and hawks to grab fish. This custom cover is made with PVC trim board and vinyl coated wire mesh. It took about 3-4 hours to make start to finish. It doesn't take a lot of materials and should hold up great outdoors. You can get everything except the vinyl coated wire at Lowes or Home Depot. This will fit Kim's Ponds 200, 300, 425 and 600 gallon pond kits.
Materials:
4 - 8ft x 1"x 2" PVC trim boards
Critterfence Black Steel 1 Inch Square Grid (mine was a 4ft x 100 ft roll)

2 count - 2" narrow hinges
white screen door handle (optional)
miter saw
impact driver/drill
staples/staple gun
tin snips or something to cut wire mesh
