I love the idea of having a dedicated place for duck bills I use them almost everyday

That "speed square" pocket is going to prove to be a very good feature across quite a few trades for certain specialty tools. Chucking them in pinch side down/handle side up is going to be good on the muscle memory. Couple more goes at sizing and I'll have a good base for other pouches to come from. More updates on this when I can. I have better materials on the way. Things will start getting a bit more "real".

Yes brother been running the dominant side hip tape position for a few years now and think it to be the second best position depending on what work your doing. The only position that takes its place I think is the front bag when framing. My current dilemma is looking for new dominant side bag that has hip tape clip position

I'll be building out a set for myself again soon. Tape will be up front where knife/pencil is usually seen. Being lefty for a pencil, but strong side is still right, my right side gets very crowded at times "needing" to house square and tape... Message me on Instagram and I can make you whatever you're looking for... @clovisproject Things gave evolved considerably since this video(very first wearable pouch)

I’ve been wanting a dedicated siding rig for a while. I’m really excited on how it’s looking. I’m ready to have one now. I’m gonna have to stay watching waiting to get one

Wow man, that's really cool. I always thought about making a custom pouch, and so did the people I work with , finally found someone who makes work pouches is sick dude. I do drywall and carpentry work so I would like to get one..

Thought about it all for a long time myself. Glad you're into it. There's a few more recent examples on youtube... If you have an Instagram account, that's where I'm directing people to go to get in contact with me about potential sales. @clovisproject Direct messages over there is how it's all going to be for a little while. I have PayPal set up, and am willing to get other apps if needed.. thanks

Another idea I’ve had, instead of individual tool loops, ONE strip of leather or webbing, and then every 1.5” or so having those snap buttons, so you can change based on what you’re doing that day. So say one day you need two pairs of pliers or something you snap it so there’s two 1.5” sections, but the next day you need one thing like a painters 5 in 1 with a 2.5” bar, you can just un snap the snap and you have a perfect pocket for it. As far as I know no one is doing this

Modular is tempting. For this one, I think it's time to simply say.... THANK YOU. Every comment so far is obviously from a place that is legitimately trying to be helpful. You're thinking about this whole subject a lot. Your time today is real deal appreciated dude. Every comment you put up so far has been one of the better ones on whatever vid it was on. Seriously thanks again.

Super interesting. Gonna subscribe and I’ll keep an eye out. Currently eyeing a badger carpenter set.

Much appreciated. I'm still going to be in the trial and error phase with things for a while, obviously. Badger makes a good setup. I currently use the padded belt daily.

Using a durable womens purse is much easier. Only thing I would suggest is spray painting the whole thing, and could put your name on it if your worried about tools coming up missing from it

Cool project, what materials are you using for pouches? Are you using rivets for corners?
@clovisprojectdiy

Thanks man. That was wearable pouch number 1 right there. Material- 1000d cordura. It's a heavy duty nylon. No rivets in corners. I run up and down the outside 3 times..

My favorite color for a tool bag is “spore print purple"

Are you planning to sell your bags when you are done prototyping? I am a Trim carpenter and obviously am very interested. I really a a stickler on everything having a place and carry more things than the average guy... love the colors you're working with too btw.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
I definitely want to be selling these in the future. I'm pretty finicky about where everything lives as well. If you don't mind me asking, what is your current setup? I'm mainly doing interior work myself. Remodeler, and in and out of different trades, as the day progresses quite a bit... Get used to seeing some different color combinations, I figure why not have some fun with it all for now.

Currently running a 17yr old set of Diamond Back bags... don't recall the name. They aren't made anymore like they did it in Alaska. Wish I could send a pic of my set up the tools in it and such.

Look at Build Pro has just developed the trimmer pro that you’re looking for designed by trim carpenters. Everything stays inside

square in main pouch is not efficient... are you left handed? you have to grab it with main hand then transfer, then grab marking tool. as opposed to grabbing both at once...
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
Lefty for a pencil, and a few fine motor skill things(razor knife, scraper, etc). Square and tape live on the right opposite pencil. Still swing a hammer with the right, so technically still my strong side.... typically don't need to switch hands for things.

Diamondback and Badger placing the speed square slot under the tape pouch is an awful design. You need to go up and around your tape. No reason not to have it slot in the middle like you have it here.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
Diamondback especially now with the grandes. Big old wide open main bag, and 1 exterior front pocket on their tool side. Could have had that in the design easily. I wore it yesterday for the 1st day at work, and I'm pretty psyched for prototype 2. Still proud of the 1st, but when I work out a few nit picky things, I'll feel like I'm really getting somewhere with all this. Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated, and prototype 2 will be started on very soon...

If you still want to talk, that's what I've come up with as a work around I can send people. Hopefully this finds you...

No ones making any good "minimalist setups" If you took away the 2 outer pockets on that bag, thats what i would want to run on my right side with the hammer pouch. The left side i would just want one big opening up top, dedicated square slot. And then a second medium size pocket off the side all for fasteners. With a catpaw and slim bar pouch on left. And bit holders in place of tape holder pocket. I usually run my tape on the front of my belt. I dont like the side holders for them.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
I have plans for a whole line up. Fighting to figure out the just right shape for the main bag still... hoping to be able to pull off "high riders" and "low riders" for each core layout. Framer set with no top tape pouch, and about 3-4 inches higher at the bottom. Things like that. Bit indexes up top on the high riders, are the way I'm figuring I'm going. My electrician tool side is going to be very similar to what your describing as well. Smaller setups will come. I feel like I'm learning more about the process as a whole with the bigger pouches at the moment... Thanks for the view and the comment. Hopefully I come up with something in the future that suits your fancy.

@@clovisprojectdiyAnother way to streamline and keep startup costs low for stuff like that is to have metal (eyelets?) the holes with metal around them, and then Chicago screws, so if you like tape in the pouch you can keep it there and if you don’t like it you can just move it. You could even do a “base pouch” and then have trade specific sub pouches people can customize and change around as they go. I was doing what you’re doing for a while but just for myself and using belt clips and individual sheaths and pouches to space things out.
@clovisprojectdiy

@chriscolameco6850 good idea in itself. I am going to avoid going the atlas 46 route with everything being modular. Thought alot about the whole thing, and it comes down to this 1 thing every time- you simply aren't going to please everyone. 1 thing I am considering at the moment is making hammer, and bar sleeves modular. Chicago screws would be the way to go in that case... All feedback is welcome. Thanks for the comment.
