Thank you so much for this fantastic video! I was at a local gun shop recently where they had a Girsan MC 312 12ga 28" shotgun with black synthetic furniture for $250. Basically a boring Turkish clone of a Benelli M2. Great gun! Great price! I taped the trigger group, the recoil pad, the top of the rib and front bead, taped off the bolt, and the sight channel on top of the receiver off, then put a plug made of a ball of tape in the muzzle. Then I went to town on it. It turned out absolutely amazing! All of my hunting buddies were blown away! I started with a a Khaki base coat. Then I went with random stripes of flat black and brick red. I went to Michael's and got 3 pack of natural sponges for $7. I cut them in 1/3rds, so you don't have to use the whole thing at once. For the sponge paint I use a dark earth tone brown and a kind of dark chocolate brown. Spray a puddle, and just dip the pieces of sponge in these and randomly dab it on your gun. It really looks awesome! I finished it off with 3 coats of matte clear. That stuff dries really fast in the summer. 15-20 minutes between coats! This gun went from, yawn boring, to a absolute 100% sexy show stopper! I'm not kidding! I plan on doing this to many guns in the future! It is a 100% no brainer! I love it! Thank you so much again for this great video! Anyone can do this with outstanding results. It's not that tough. I promise you!
It does remind me a little bit of a few attempts at tye die. You have a plan in place. And you know how plans go :-) Fortunately it turns out great anyway.
Bravo Bravo Bravo Bravo I thought it was going to look like 💩 But I like this better than anyone I have seen I going to try do mine the same ,, Thanks for posting a awesome video you have a new fan
It's Bob not Patty 😂I have done this to a couple of my guns and other guys at deer camp started asking me to do their's but I never agreed to. I just told them how easy it is and a few did it. Nice video
Just bought the same boyd stock for my tikka t3. I want to do same thing but darker colours. Can you give me some suggestions? I got the stock in the green colour. Was thinking maybe with the green backing. Using brown and black then sponge with green black and brown???? What u think
Go for it man. The beauty is if you don't like the results, just paint over them. It's a pretty easy paint job that gives good results. My suggestion to you would be don't cheap out on the sponge. Buy a few good natural pieces. These look and work the best.
Are both of these in 6.5 Creedmoor? I have the exact rifle at I love it. It’s an absolute tack driver. It’s more accurate than my 12 LRP, tikka tac a1, and begara hmr all in 6.5. This is the exact stock I have almost ordered about 100 times. The ONLY reason I haven’t is because I have been afraid changing 1 tiny thing will change the accuracy of the rifle. I have owned several of these in 308 and 6.5. I keep the most accurate one and have traded the rest of them. I tried something different with the one I kept (something that experts say not to do). I jammed the recoil lug as far forward as it would go instead of to the rear. No idea why I tried it but I did. I also have no idea if this helped the accuracy because I have never fired it any other way. But the accuracy is far above the price tag I paid (319 plus tax minus 100 mail in rebate) so I have been afraid to restock it or even take it out of the stock again. I have been waiting to see if Grayboe is going to release a Savage stock, rumor has it that it’s a real possibility. What butt pad did you get on this stock?
Halfdollar 86. My rifle, with the thin recoil pad, is in 6.5cm the other one is my brothers and it's in .308 He opted for a thicker recoil pad from Boyd's. We got our during the sale as well. $219 all said and done. Ours are both very accurate as well. We never shot ours in the factory stocks. Thanks for watching. Walter
You need to order a new one. You also need new action screws that they sell. You have to buy them both but only need the longer rear one. The factory front works just fine. The fitment on mine was perfect.
I don't understand why people don't paint the action and the optic. They stand out just as much as the stock do. Leaving large areas contrasting Wil work as negative space to break up the shape but they need to be none geometric shapes. The optic and action adult stand out on their own. If nothing else spray paint it a solid color similar to your environment.
I often wonder the same thing and I paint everything on my ARs. Now I view my bolt action hunting and target rifles a little differently- on those I'm mostly interested in just covering up the ugly black plastic stocks. Since I hunt from inside a portable camo blind mostly, the game won't see the black barrel/action/scope anyway.
