It's a nice project that suffers the problem that most nice projects suffer from, it probably cost you more to make than had you just gone out and bought one. But you do get the satisfaction of knowing you built it yourself, even though it probably cost two or three times the price of one off the shelf.
@IAmCjcj11
@IAmCjcj11 4 года назад
I see this valuable in applications where you need absolute custom shapes for retrofitting in awkward spots, I’m thinking of doing something similar to this but for 5-6 drinks and it pulls out like a tip out drawer from say a desk or something. Is it economically better than buying a mini fridge to put next to a desk? Helll no lmao. But sure would be cool as hell. I looked at the parts mentioned and was actually surprised at the low cost of the main components (power supply, cooling modules, thermostat), most of the other stuff is pretty cheap or optional depending what you want to do
@Arterexius

I think what also makes this pretty good is that it also has an option for a 12v input, which allows you to hook it up in a vehicle. This is not a bad alternative for the $1000 camping fridges.

Now what you can do is buy this special case, which is like almost $1,000 btw, it takes the main part that makes the fridge cold through an insulated tube, and puts it ontop of the CPU. So any of the condistation is trapped inside the tube and only touching the top of the cpu, and makes it safe. Or if you're feeling adventurous just use liquid nitrogen !
@maxslab8774
@maxslab8774 6 лет назад
While your idea seems cool. It would never work. Since the air inside the fridge contains water vapor, heat from the PC mixing with the cool air from the fridge will condense the water and cause a short circuit. Professional overclockers who use similar liquids to cool avoid this by putting Vaseline on the components. The problem with this though is that its only a temporary solution.

Peltier modules needs heatsinks you know
@TheMincraftpemaster
@TheMincraftpemaster 6 лет назад
Natural Nerd yes, I know. However, these are CPU heatsinks with some styrofoam and metal screwed on to it. There is no way that these are purpose built. Not "electronic refrigeration unit." Heatsink. CPU heatsink.
@Nerdforge
@Nerdforge 6 лет назад
Correct! Purpose built ones would be a little out of the budget of this one ;-)
@TheMincraftpemaster
@TheMincraftpemaster 6 лет назад
Natural Nerd yes, but they aren't "electronic refrigeration modules." They are heatsinks. *Heatsinks*
@Nerdforge
@Nerdforge 6 лет назад
Writing a "heatsink" would be misleading. The module consists of 2 heatsinks, 3 fans, and a peltier module sandwiched in between them. So it's definitely made for cooling. As you would also pay for the peltier module and the fans attached to it, I am not sure I understand why you are so keen on calling the unit a heatsink. It's like buying a lamp with a foot and shade, but insisting on calling it a bulb. The unit wouldn't work well without the heatsinks, but without the peltier element it would be absolutely useless.

interesting but for the cost, these small fridges are getting really inexpensive and no hassle just get 1 for under $60, esp at the big box stores I think as in this vid you'll have like $75-80 plus time in it? Aluminum tape, not a good insulator or durable. I'd line it with plexiglass painted on the backside or some white tile, laminate, etc thanks for sharing! +1 and sub. your vids are inspirational

Based on your wirings, the fan directions on the big fans looks incorrect. Both fans are supposed to face towards the heat sink so it creates a high air pressure. This high air pressure creates a high temperature that gets heat sinked. Otherwise you're relying solely on the peltier. I bought the same refrigeration module, and noticed this.
@Nerdforge
@Nerdforge 6 лет назад
Interesting, I'll check that out. Maybe it can perform even better!
@schweens
@schweens 6 лет назад
oops. sorry i had it reverse. i meant they should be facing away from each other. this creates a low pressure, and cold temperature that is transferred via heat sink into the fridge and dispersed using the smaller fan. and according to this link it goes down up to -5 degrees bit.ly/2klKyye

That depends on the tips. Obviously, the dude you quoted saying that she almost cut her thumb is salty and can fuck right off... But getting advice from viewers, male or female, isn't a bad thing in the slightest. Like the dude that is above your comment (for me) talking about condensation. She had planned for it and expected it, and had explained her thought process about it to him, which he accepted at that was that. But had she NOT thought of condensation, as no one is perfect and things are missed, he could have possibly provided helpful knowledge. CodysLab is a great example of this... He 's probably one of the smartest people I watch on RU-vid and takes on a plethora of different projects, incredibly interesting stuff. From gardening to mining to chemical experiments. But he is always reading comments and constantly states in many videos "I've taken your guys suggestions and this is what I did" and other such comments. No one is perfect, so reading comments and possibly getting tips is never a bad thing.
@WarlikeWifee
@WarlikeWifee 6 лет назад
pfcande I agree about that tips can be good! I was mostly referring to how condescending some of the "advice" has been. There just seems to be a weird amount of confusion that a girl could do something that's more than just another slime tutorial (not that's there's anything wrong with slime haha)
@TheTca211
@TheTca211 6 лет назад
i think this confusion you speak of is all on your side.. have you been on other techy diy channels? they are all full of an almost equal amounts of trolls/ people who think they know better and the person doing it is an idiot along with praise/honest questions and advice.. this just looks like every other youtube comment section with a touch more modern day feminism... as a techy dude i would be much happier if more women were interested in shit like this.. you know having similar interests is really nice...

As a father of daughters, I want to thank you for posting this project and your other videos. Slowly we are breaking down the gender barriers that have tried to keep females out of certain professions for millennia. It takes demonstrations such as this to show how stupid it is to try to hold down 50% of the population. Every girl (or boy) who sees this will think “I can do that”. Imagine twice as many smart, capable makers to carry us into the future. You got my subscription.
@cranshawmccaw
@cranshawmccaw 5 лет назад
The only things keeping females from "certain professions" is lack of interest. Ability keeps both genders out of every profession that they don't have a talent for. What barriers are you talking about exactly? There's nothing keeping females from entering STEM fields. Stop drinking that kool aid.
@TheDorianTube
@TheDorianTube 5 лет назад
As long as people like you make a big deal out of things like this, there will always be stereotypes. I just saw someone good with tools and thought the fridge looks cool. You instead decided to focus on whatever was between the legs. That's how you create disparity. Regarding barriers, bullshit. It was debunked so many times that at this point I start to think that you guys either live inside an echo-chamber, where new information is policed/censured, or you're just in denial. Nobody gives a damn nowadays about your sex, beside professional victims profiting out of it. You think I wouldn't buy this from her or hire her just because she's a girl?! Are we in the 40's again? I won't subscribe tho, that's for sure. Not because of sex, but because she put a 'favorite' on this rubbish comment and that says a lot.

Anesidora Aynruh and of course because it happened to you, clearly it happens to everyone the exact same way Pull you head out of you bigoted ass for once and you might realize not everyone is like you “Your opinion is unsolicited” and yours wasn’t? “the posts here are from men” citation needed sweetheart “Due to the ease with which (men) can pick up these skills” it’d seem you’re the sexist one here

@Anesidora Aynruh " I've seen it happen to many women with my own God given eyes." congratulations, the plural of anecdote is not data "The opinion in question speaks on behalf of a gender. Which I happen to be a part of. The statements being made lack substance & from where I stand I do not require an invitation to represent myself, experiences or gender." nor does anyone else; regardless of what you may think, you're not special because you have a vagina "t is not hard to deduce that the comments are from a male perspective" only for a massive sexist such as yourself "As per citations feel free to pursue them if it helps you feel better. " oh honey, i know you’re used to things be handed to you but its not my job to prove your point for you "Let's be frank here no name. I'm not your sweetheart. The only infant here is you. Terms of endearment should be left within the confines of ones home or used where one has such amicable sentiments for another. " whatever you say sugar tits
