literally what im doing. I found a really pretty short dress at macys and got it for a really good price. so i'll be hand sewing some crystals on the bodice and making this skirt to go over it but with 6 layers or more and then when it's time for the reception i can remove it.
great idea being able to take a classy going out clubbing with frineds/ dinner with family dress to turning it into a modern ball gown - fit for the red carpet!! and the best part is that you didn't even touch the original dress!! LOVE IT!!
you are very talented and inspiring to so many women who always thought that sewing a dress was beyond their ability. Thank you very much. And I didnt realise you were still a student, wow, that is wonderful.
I think it personally looks better with a fitted skirt underneath but feel free to wear whatever you think looks best! :D the only thing about chiffon is that the material would be very hard to work with especially if you're hand sewing. Have you thought about buying iron-on strips? it basically glues the pieces together when you iron it down. also a full skirt would actually be VERY flattering to big bottoms. if you don't want it to be too poofy, make the pleats farther apart hope this helped:)
omg how cool would it be to do LOADS of layers of different colour thin materials underneath a skater dress then you'd see the colours underneath it would look really cute and playful and also it looks like you live in paradise!!!!!
i think as long as the bodice is fitted then it would look fine. if the waist area is flowy then when you tie the skirt around your waist, it won't look as flawless. and if you add more layers of skirt then it won't be too transparent underneath :) keep in mind that you'll need more yards of fabric if you want to add more layers! even if it doesn't look the way you want it! you can always match the skirt with other dresses and tops :)
I'm subscribing!!! but you should do more tutorials like these it's amazingly helpful!!! I just got into costume design and I found out I love doing dresses and clothes it's amazing but it's becaue of the DIY s I see on youtube love you goul and please do more I'm looking forward for more videos :D
You always have really nice DIY ideas and you give me great inspiration!!!! My school is having their semi-formal and the the theme is masquerade. I have a really pretty gold, green, and black mask and a plain strapless black dress. I'd love to jazz up the dress....do ya have ANY ideas?! Thnks!
Would be adorable to do this with a high low cut sheer fabric... I think I found my holiday dresses for next christmas... kinda early but whatever lol xD very nice tutorial, thank you :)
Hey! I found your channel when i was looking for some ideas for dresses and i was really lucky to find your video of making of your prom dress. I know this video is really old but could you make a tutorial on a dress just like that one (I know you won't be having that same dress right now) for this recent and a really great subscriber ?
definitely do a short poofy tutu style skirt with a lot of fun colors thatll match your dress!!! use this technique and just add a lot of layers to make it extra poofy :)
yes but you won't be able to adjust where you tie your bow. i would try on the skirt and mark how high you want it to be cut, and then draw a gradual curve down to the backside to make it high-low. and then just cut it :D i have not tried it but its something i would do.
