I love how she's narrating this like it's a tutorial despite the fact that 99% of the viewers will not be attempting this. We just love watching the transformation.
just imagine!wearing this in a party and everyone would be asking "dear wear did u bought that amazing dress" and answering them proudly "i made it." just pure creativity!!!!!
@@madammaldita4749 some people dont like to be corrected when giving opinions or statements thou how u did it was nice and correct it still is considered wrong or rude to some
With the updo and the beautiful background at the end, I just got this Crazy Rich Asians vibe with you in that dress. Such a stunning dress, it looks beautifully crafted.
Love how you merged two dresses together. I always see festures i like from multiple items but never know how to logistically unify them. Thank you for showing me your process!!! Just amazing.
Beautiful! Do you ever sell your designs April? Or do a redesign for clients who pay you? Just wondering because I was thinking how much clothing you must have ☺ and wonder if there's still a market for redesigned or bespoke fashion from thrifting. I'm in my 60's and I used to make all my clothing at one time. I wasn't a designer like you. I didn't have your amazing talent for "seeing" what an older piece of clothing could become. I'm a bit envious actually 💖. I really love what you do. And I'm glad you're narrating again. No one likes the sound of their own voice, 😂, but your voice is really ~ normal. Not high pitched, grammar is perfect. It's not hard to listen to at all. Jenn 💖 in Canada 🍁
I don't think you need the exact same 2 dresses, you just need one with lace and one with chiffon (and a lot of yardage). trying to find matching greens would be rare, but if you do it in black you will have lots more options since black is the most common color of dressy dresses and most blacks match eachother.
April, you do such a good job of transforming these pieces. It's a good idea to take it all apart first. Then you can see what fabric you have to work with. Thanks for posting... all your great ideas. Inspiring.
The contrast between the Christmas and wintery decorations all around and the fact that April can just casually walk outside in a light dress ^^ But I guess it's just a normal California thing (Also the dress is amazing !)
I wana thank you for inspirering me. For 28 years i never touched a sewing machine because i was afraid of it. When i was ten i got the sewing needle in my finger. Since then i got afraid of it. Thanks to your videos and the push of my friends i got the courage to use the sewing machine again. Thank you so much.
I am blown away at your talent! Such a beautiful dress!!!! The process absolutely fascinates me! Thank you for sharing with us! I can’t imagine the work it must take to not only make the dress, but also the work it takes to edit the footage..
That is a beautiful dress. You chose really good quality materials to work with this time, and you chose outfits with lots of material in them for the parts of the dress you wanted them for. It makes all the difference.
Your mom, sister (if you have), future daughter, girl bestfriend are damn so lucky! They could just request a dress from you! Haha that would be a dream. Who else dont understand and find the process confusing yet still continued to watch til the very end? Youre so talented, ms. April!!!
New favorite project! This is definitely going in the teach to teens file. I think a lot of prom/homecoming dresses could be inspired from this video. Even if someone wanted to do an entirely new fabric bodice, getting a thrifted skirt bottom would be very easy to refit, especially if gathered so forgiving. So awesome. Save some serious change on a wedding dress if you are trying on a lot of the tulle, poof poofs with seperate bodices. The gathered skirt never changes over time, it's only the bodice that changes with the trends. Yeah that sounds like so much fun. Who is getting married let me upcycle your dress. Im pregnant and want to stay at home sewing:)
April, who taught you how to sew? You are so talented. I've watched so many of your videos thinking I could possibly learn, but I just don't think I have the understanding beyond simple tasks. Can you recommend a good way to get started learning ? Thank you! And so happy to have learned of your vlog channel!
Everytime I watch your videos, I think I should finish the skirt and dress I made and think about what I want to do with the formal dresses (too big) I bought 6 years ago at a sale.
Wow!! I never cease to be amazed by you! I wish I had your eye for refashioning!! That dress is something I could actually see my teenage daughter wanting to wear!!
If you don’t mind me asking, did you ever take any sewing classes (or any other classes to get where you are now), or did you just kind of teach yourself and practiced a lot?
This dress is gorgeous, but as a holiday dress, hmmm..... Maybe because I live in the north with the snow, but it looks too summery to make me feel like it's a holiday dress. If the dress was floor length, then for sure, holiday party/wintery dress. Actually I'd love to see you make a floor length dress or long sleeved dress, i haven't seen one yet (though I am new here) :)
Idk why for some reason it always ends up being shorter when I sew! But when making on-the-go designs like this I always give myself enough seam allowance for mistakes.
@@coolirpa if it's princess seams like this, I've heard that you have a better chance at keeping the fabric even if you sew bottom to top instead of top down. haven't tried myself but a couple people have told me to try that way.
How are you so talented!? My daughter and I love to watch your transformation videos. Thank you for this gem. We love the dress. You have a gift in your talent.
You are fabulous. You can take anything and make a one of a kind dress for yourself. Would be awesome to have a closet full of originals. You have passion!
This is a brutally honest opinion. You definitely modernized the clothes but you also make them very basic. It would be cute if you kept some of it's uniqueness but still modernized it. You're clearly talented and I know these take a lot of effort but you don't seem to be into fashion or caught up to fashion trends because the style you choose to transform these clothes are late. It's reminiscent of the 2012-2014 style.
To you and everyone agreeing with you doesn't understand fashion at all!!! What is in style now freaking 90's which is in colors of the 70's!?It may be a California thing but fashion is whatever YOU feel at this second not a trend. Trendy styles are the opposite of fashionable because if everyone is wearing it is played out.
I wanna thank you so much for all your posts and videos. You have inspired me to take some sewing classes at my local community college. Now I have a clearer understanding on why it takes a while for you to post new videos. Keep up the amazing work cannot wait to see if you come out with your own clothing line.
You are so talented! I'm so glad I found your channel a few years back. You inspired me to start sewing, even though I'm not that good yet. But practice makes perfect!
Just watched this in the break I took from writing my course work and it was so relaxing to watch someone being so confident and talented at what they are doing
