Control arms install happens at 43:30
In this video I update front suspension on this E93 BMW 328i it was driving terrible a bit unstable upon inspection torn control arm and shock mount were discovered on passenger side. The main components of suspension are control arms for wheel stability and shocks for smoother ride. I will also replace sway bar links and bushing but that is may be for another video
Thank you for watching

Thank you for the video. All of your videos are very helpful. A couple of points, though. I would wear safety glasses when dealing with suspension springs of any kind. and those spring compression tools are the wrong kind for BMW struts. There is another type of spring compressor with two arms attached to a single rail that will make this job a lot easier. Not as easy as a floor mounted shop strut spring compressor but a lot easier than the ones you’re using.

The easier way to do this without a hydraulic spring compressor is to use the weight of the car to compress the spring! Loosely assemble all the parts of the shock assembly as far as you can. Then install the damper into the hub, reinstall the control arms, put something between the damper and the floor. Then slowly lower the car whilst someone lines all the parts up. You can then put the nut on the damper from the engine bay.

@@Zeiten quite a few "specialists" here on RU-vid do it this way because of the issues you highlighted. Or weld a plate to compress the whole thing including the mount

Man, you really struggle with that spring compressor...

Buy the whole assembly, I think so..cheaper than the ER. 😅

It isn't that hard to tighten the control arm bolts when the car is on the ground, so the bushing doesn't wear out early.

Thank you. I'm thinking about getting one of those clamp/shoe-type spring compressors -- the blue and yellow ones if you google McPherson strut spring compressor. Have you tried this type?
@Zeiten
@Zeiten Месяц назад
Haven’t tried it but im sure they will work just fine

Everything mechanic i know calls those compression clamps the widow maker!!! The amount of potential energy stored on that compressed spring will send those pieces right thru you…that was very irresponsible of you man, who’s😮😮😮 videos am going to watch if something had gone wrong?
@Zeiten

Never had an issue with those, as long as they are in good shape, every time you use them it grinds off some metal so they have to be replaced once in a while. But overall they do the job i do have other compressing tools but those are the easiest to use and available to everyone
