You are in Cali so it looks so easy and clean. I’m in Minnesota, snow in feet not inches , salt crud it’s hell to take out anything on a car. Your car is show room bro.

To make sure you're getting the right height on the suspension when torquing, before removing tire, measure from the top fender to the center of the tire rim. Then lift suspension to match that measurement and torque.

5:43 They are indeed fluid-filled hydraulic bushings.

Oh wow, You have lost a lot of weight. You look good bro. I have not seen any of your videos in probably 7 or 8 years. They were instrumental in learning and repairing all I could when I had my e46

many automakers deliberately reduce the life of parts, saving on lubrication. I recommend lifting the rubber duster and reporting a waterproof lubricant there. this will extend the life of the parts.

If you're a beginner it might be actually helpful to get a torque wrench, after using a torque wrench for a while you'll get a good idea of how much you can torque each bolt. Smaller bolts snap very easily if you have no idea how much torque they can take. Don't need an expensive torque wrench, just one that gets you close enough.

Especially true for those lighter torques like valve cover bolts 6-8 ft-lbs isn't much and easy to overshoot!!

Wish I had read this last week before shearing off my sway bar bushing (riveted bolt into chassis) on my e91 Only took me 3 days to fix it with a blind rivet lol all new to me

I did this for all front arms, tie rods and rear arms with bushing/links. All Lemforder parts from OEM Bimmer.. A great way to save on a repair and spend a weekend. Get an allignment after for sure 👍

You can replace these with M3 parts to give a bit more front camber.

I was also watching the FCP DIY video. Gareth says that the bushing IS filled with hydraulic oil. So that small amount of oil that showed on your original part was probably the oil from inside of it.

Man, the first nut is a pain to remove without the electric ratchet. I destroyed the torx T40 bit trying to counterhold the bushing screw but to no avail.

Why not mark the socket in stead of the bolt?

NO TORQUE WRENCH?!?!? Blasphemy! lol I need to do this on my E70.. When they go bad on the E70 the wheel vibrates back/forth so it feels like warped brakes, but it's not warped brakes.

Huge fan and fellow BMW owner. I know your busy, but you i trust more than anyone else. Honestly… i own 2008 X3 3.0si. I love it but transmission shifts rough sometimes. Oddly enough shifts smooth, really smooth in the rain!? Every time I start driving when cold, it shifts when it should just hard. Usually when its warm it get a lot better… most of the time. I’ve serviced it 3times with fresh fluid. And replaced all valve body seals. Last fluid replaced filter for the second time in 15,000 miles and used liquid moly fluid. Car has 160k and runs so good. Any advice on what or where to go from here? Again thanks for your videos you taught me so much and gave me confidence to do many of my own repairs

Thinking about replacing my valve cover gasket on my n54.. will I be okay on just changing the gasket or should I change the valve cover as well?
@AA-wt9ji
@AA-wt9ji 4 месяца назад
Make sure you get an upgrade pcv valve for it. Don’t trust the one that comes with the cover. Get a metal one from fcp euro. I just had a valve cover gasket leak and went thru all that. You def wanna change out that plastic valve for the better one. It’s like 30$ and worth it.

“…you really don’t need a torque wrench” oooh wow you’re taking a risk on RU-vid saying that in a car repair video ! (personally I’d say any fixing in the suspension/steering or brakes should be torqued to spec every time)
