Really nice. I live in an apartment home and I am planning in about a month to do a colored accent wall with painted wall paper and faux stone ( i like this AirStone) but I cant use the adhesive on their wall and they really dont like bright paint colors. So, I have used heavy duty velcro on upscale heavy mirrors before instead of nails. (They stay up for years) So I am gonna use velcro on all four corners of paintable wallpaper then paint after i hang it. For the faux stone i am gonna use heavy duty velcro for a small accent wall in bathroom and put up plywood the size of my wall space over the apartments painted wall and then use adhesive to apply stone on plywood instead of wall directly.

Outstanding job. I hope to surprise my wife by doing a feature wall project that she wants. Was at Lowe’s twice this week, but no Airstone...will check on-line. I did see the quartz stone but the pieces are glued together. Card stock to level pieces is a good...I now have another use for 3x5 cards. Be well.

@LaciJaneDIY
@LaciJaneDIY 5 лет назад
Yes, but you would have to use some big screws and drill directly into the studs. This stuff is HEAVY. But we did this with plywood on my latest Airstone project over the existing tile and up onto the ceiling so that the whole unit would be flush. Check out my latest Airstone project for 2018 to see how we did it.

I bought this a few years ago and used it as a backsplash in my kitchen. Lowe's was discontinuing it. I got it for $25/BOX!!! Super easy to put up, super easy to cut (I cut all of mine by hand with a hand saw). I just hate the way it looks :-/ I'm ripping it out in a few weeks.

Ok, you made up my mind. I wasn't sure I could do it myself, but I'm going to try. Question - this is going to go behind my wood stove, all the way up to the ceiling, and I want to put up a mantle halfway up - the mantle will need to be supported by L brackets. Should the mantel be installed first? Or after? How would I do that around the brackets that will be attached to the wall? Thanks - your project looks awesome!

I went to your blog post about how you hid your cords, but I was reading that the two boxes have to be directly above and below each other and the top one has to be installed near the tv mount. So, if the top "wire box" was installed on either side of the tv mount, and the bottom one has to be directly below it, how did you make that work? Where did you end up aligning the boxes in line with each other?

Incidentally, I have been looking at the same fireplace for some time. The link you provided shows the recessed version and showing a depth of 5 1/2 inches. Did you recess the fireplace into that wall or is it just mounted on the wall? Mine will be on an exterior wall so it wouldn't be a good idea to recess it with out building out that section of the wall. If you did mount it directly on the wall, did the depth of the stones make up for the 5 1/2" depth of the fireplace? Awesome video, thank you!
@LaciJaneDIY
@LaciJaneDIY 7 лет назад
Hi, Rich! I actually ordered my fireplace on Menards website (they don't carry it in store) but that one is almost identical. I used the mounting brackets provided for the fireplace and my tv and applied the airstone around the mounting brackets. The fireplace still sticks out a little from the brick to allow room for the vent and controls on the side, but the tv is also mounted so having them both in comparison looks pretty "custom". I hope this answers your question. Your idea of using this outside sounds amazing. I would love, love, love to see the final project. Feel free to #LJDIY on IG, Twitter, or FB to share your projects with me (and others) along with any other tips, tricks, or advice! Thanks! -LJ

Looks like she spent around 400 bucks on this. Lowes has this at 8 linear ft per box at 60 bucks a box. What she did looks to be 6 ft x maybe 8 ft... rougly. I was going to do this and was excited till I priced doing a 8 x 10 wall.

Laci Jane Hi your wall looks awesome, one question what kind of mounting bracket did you use to hang your tv. thanks
@ScrewballMcAdams
@ScrewballMcAdams 7 лет назад
Emmas dad Hi - I think the linear foot pricing is for the corner pieces only. The flat pieces used for covering most of a wall are sold in boxes that cover 8 sq.ft. @ $60 ea. so it's about $7.50 per sq.ft. if my math is correct. Hope this helps.
@activeinfinity1
@activeinfinity1 2 года назад
I didn't find the adhesive for $14. And Lowes no longer carries AirStone. Home Depot does, but doesn't carry the adhesive. I bought the adhesive from the Airstone Store and it was $30.99 a gallon.

Should have pulled the box out a bit so the face plate of the outlet rests on the face of the stone, and not recessed into it. Also could have used much less adhesive, that stuff is so light it hardly needs any, and then you have less mess/adhesive on the face of the stone and squeezing out the joints. Also would have considered getting a box or two of the corner pieces to give a more finished look where it ends on the sides. Other than that, looks stellar. Great job

This turned out amazingly beautiful! There's an area right in the middle of my living room where I was planning on putting an electric fireplace (because I don't want a TV in my home), and this would look perfect along that wall behind the fireplace! I could even cut and paint a slab of wood to look like a mantle! Ugh, you give me such good ideas! So glad I found your channel. Thank you for inspiring me creatively. Was, or can this be installed directly to the drywall? Or do you need to mount cement board first?
@surlycrosscheck1
@surlycrosscheck1 2 года назад
I got brought here for some reason and that was my thought also. That is A LOT of weight pulling on what is essentially paper covering the drywall. I was say, yes. Fasten cement board first as a minimum and then secure the stone. This project looks nice but it’s terrifying to me.
