What a beautiful design. I started doing pysanky 15 years ago but have never had the courage to do an ostrich egg.

Totoliciu Areta Ildiko Maybe if you watch my basic video, Learn How to Dye and Color Easter Eggs- this will give you a better understanding of how the bees wax seals in each color.

I'm having a hard time understanding how you blended the colors on the leaves and red flower? I have watched it 3 times and love that look. A video showing that technique would be amazing! You do beautiful work!
@nanaof6babies
@nanaof6babies 9 лет назад
at 14:04 what I gather is... say for the flower..you would use a q-tip dipped in the red dye and sort of paint it on, blending it out to the yellow, then waxing over the whole flower?
@LorriePopow
@LorriePopow 9 лет назад
LeAnn Lewis Hi LeAnn, Yes, when the egg was dyed yellow I waxed in all the areas I wanted to remain yellow. However, on the leaves and the flower I didn't want those to be one solid color, so I waxed in areas that I wanted to have a bit of yellow and then added the next color or colors. When working in such areas you can play around with the colors some. Thank you for watching my videos.

I too am transfixed! What kind of varnish do you use? Oil based? Thank you
@LorriePopow
@LorriePopow 2 года назад
Yes for any decorated eggshell that has been dyed or inked please use an oil based varnish. Water based varnishes will wash away the dyes or inks and ruin your artwork. Thank you for watching my videos.

Lorrie, can u please tell how do u erase a pencil marks from the egg?
@LorriePopow
@LorriePopow 10 лет назад
Hi Roksanna, First we need to learn to use a light touch in making our pencil lines. I make mine darker for the videos so they can be seen. Okay, there are a few things you can do to removed the pencil marks. By melting wax over the pencil marks you now can use that melted wax to rub over the pencil marks and most will come off. You can use Goof Off, Lighter Fluid, Mineral Spirits, or a white artist eraser.
