I was so cranky at myself for that silly mistake but I’m glad I caught it before putting the video out! ❤🧂☀️🐔 Just to clarify, it’s four tablespoons of salt and four tablespoons of baking soda to make the mixture. Then, to make the liquid electrolytes, it’s two teaspoons of the mixture and one tablespoon of honey per gallon of water. ❤

Can I make the mixture with the sea salt and baking soda only? Or does it only work if I also have the honey?
@WelcometoChickenlandia
@WelcometoChickenlandia Год назад
@@breanas_mommy You could do it without the honey but you would want to be sure they are drinking it because it may not be as palatable to them. I would also offer them fresh water.

Dahlia I will order both of those products and make it. I ferment garlic cloves in honey and both eat the garlic and drink the honey off the spoon of garlic. Over time the honey gets thinner. I am considering using that honey because garlic is good for chickens. I am wondering if you think it would be okay to try it?

I think honey is generally considered antibacterial, but contains prebiotic oligosaccharides that help promote healthy gut flora. The good bacteria for chickens includes lactobacillius like in yogurt and bifidobacterium in fruits and vegetables. And raw honey has additional benefits of antioxidant polyphenols and bee pollen not in processed, but still bacteria can’t grow in honey, that’s why some people put it on cuts and it has an indefinite shelf life (honey found in pyramids).

This is timely information! I'm cooling off my birds with chilled spaghetti noodles and grapes. I've teased a number of bushes to grow into canopies to shade them. As the flock moves about the yard, I'll spray the next spot on their itinerary to cool it down for them. I've worked on the mulberry bush next to the porch steps for 3 years. First, I aimed to form a leafy arch to give the porch anoles a safe commute to the coop--now the twisted arch is 10 feet long and spreads out to shade the sun-blasted area beside the porch and the end of the bamboo garden spa with the big dustbath. These growing things are damned malleable!
@WelcometoChickenlandia
@WelcometoChickenlandia Год назад
That sounds amazing. I want to grow more things in my chicken yard!
@Susie_Floozie
@Susie_Floozie Год назад
@@WelcometoChickenlandia I started out by taking a set of long, thin, flexible branches and making them grow in a 4 -foot circle, so looking off the side porch there was a leafy hoop of leaves like a lush frame. It made me ealize there was a way to work with the new growth instead of having to trim the mulberry bush all the time. So, just for giggles, I started pulling the long new branches downward and twisting them together to make the arch for the anoles. Twisting it together kept everything together in one mass so I could redirect it toward the coop. As it got close, I wired it to the corner of the coop to make sure it got the idea. It then started spreading out over the garden, which I hadn't foreseen. It's a lot of fun. I've become a bush enchantress--well, in a different way than I was before. Hehheh.

Hey ladies, jumping in here, but do either of yall happen to know if chickens will eat rosemary bushes ? I was told that they wouldn't & think it would be a great plant to have in the large run since it'll stand up to Texas heat. If not, any other suggestions ?

@@aliciaspears7847 I'm just a bimbo, but I know my birds go gaga over Harvest Delight, which has thyme and oregano in it. Our learned President will know the score for sure--but from what I see online, an herb like rosemary is great for supporting liver function in chickens.

This is slightly off topic, I have 6 Hy-line browns. After noticing that they had what appeared to be fluffy white feathers on their chests, that weren't there before, I looked at all of them and they are missing their breast feathers, in different degrees per bird. I saw Gloria plucking, so I tried moving her to the outside of the pen for a week. Put her back in and she started back with in a hour. So I rehomed her. (Much nicer) Now I see the others doing it to each other. What to do????? I have purchased some no peck spay, I'll give it a try. Any thoughts???? They have enough room, pecking block toy, balanced diet, dust bath.
