I think you did an awesome job with the video and the step by step process. It does seem to look straight forward and the results are definitely worth the time and effort. The exhaust sounds perfect in my opinion. And having both options for sound has its advantages for those "mature moments".
Em3rizzle (SteelgrayM3) thank you and thanks for watching. I really enjoy this exhaust but there are two things that bother me: 1. When flaps are closed the exhaust only escapes on one side. That looks odd (I have to live with that) 2. I get a bit of a drone at highway speeds when at load between 2700-3000 rpm. This will hopefully be addressed soon - I purchased a resonator and will try to retrofit it in the System
Been looking at M3/M4 videos exhaust tutorials for years now. So far this is the best video on RU-vid. Great video, great product. Thank you for sharing.
With almost 450hp and twin turbos, you should have had a full custom exhaust system built with 3" piping. You're holding your turbos back with the 2.5" pipes.
The best thing about this exhaust exchange might be the weight savings aspect. I have a hard time believing 30+ hp to the wheels just from the exhaust, maybe 5 based on what I’ve read with aftermarket set ups. With all that said, it looks great and a big thumbs up for the DIY!!
Butt dyno definitely feels the difference. I recently swapped out the stock midpipe for the Active one but kept the Comp muffler. Very refined, got rid of all rasp and totally civilized while in comfort mode. Yours has a very distinct turbo whistle for sure though. Sounds good! Get those rear flaps up and message me when I can get some (your f80post isn't receiving PMs)
Chris Kage I almost did just the midpipe but I was not a big fan of the OEM rear box. And mud flaps update soon! I’ve got V2 of fronts and a solution for the rear. Stay tuned ! Oh and I cannot send or receive PMs on the forum but I’m always reachable at got6speed@gmail.com
Man I wish I lived in the states. In switzerland we have such a strict law for cars. The loudest exhaust you can get here legit is the mperformance. Because its OEM.
Tommy L Garage Nope tottaly illegal. But what most car guys do is a professional muffler delete (opening the muffler, put a stright pipe in, then close it again) but know the police is well informed 😂
AlwaysInMotion You know what, I might agree with you. I am actually going to close my valves in sport and sport plus to see how I like it. I might just keep the valves closed all the time. The only problem with that set up is that exhaust gases only escape through the right side. It’ll look funny when your car is cold and the exhaust is only flowing from the right side.
Love it and it sounds great. I can't believe you did most of this by yourself, thumbs up to you. You deserve more thumbs up and Subs for the great content you always offer.
You did it!! Thank you so much for the video, it sounds really amazing👏🏻🙌🏼 The sounds of this car is the only reason I almost didn’t want it, now I don’t have to keep it stock, thanks again man🤜🤛
Sidney Grimes thanks!! An exhaust really makes this car a lot more enjoyable. The pops and burbles are so much more pronounced! Good luck and let me know if you have questions
Awesome job and sounds great. It’s time for down pipes and an intake. The down pipes is where you’ll really notice the hp gains and intake just sounds glorious I could email some sound clips of mine. PS why did you get rid of your 3 piece carbon diffuser already?
Christian Perles I don’t think I’ll be doing downpipes. I want to be able to go back to stock tune and bring the car to the dealer. And If I have downpipes that means CEL if you don’t have a tune. I’m trying to get away with warranty as long as possible :) And intakes - Id love more sound but there is nothing out there I’m comfortable with
Wow the parkway was pretty empty for a day time drive., and the exit for clark is the devils work most drivers haven't a clue how to properly position themselves or just block the whole thing up. Car looks and sounds good.
It sounds awesome! 🙂 great work! But I don’t think I’ll be attempting to even try to change my exhaust myself lol. Did your wife like it? And what do the neighbours think 😂
This weekend i'm going to attempt to do my Rear spoiler, got the carbon one to fit onto my M2C, let's hope i don't mess this one up! ha ha ha.. All for RU-vid... LOL
I see you been through a few exhaust. What exhaust do you recommend? I definitely don't want any drone or raspy noise. What's your take on Fi exhaust? Great content, keep it up! Aloha
Awesome well done !! True enthusiast that does his own work 👌🙌🏼. Did you already have downpipes? I have the m performance titanium muffler that I plan to keep but plan to do catted down pipes and a resonated mid pipe. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thats a huge chunk of metal you got out of there gj.I don't like the Y joint on the new one tho I think it is restrictive should be a lot wider and longer part.
Yes the whole system def a big improvement but still could be better by getting that Y joint fixed up.I'm watching you know that :) even tho don't care much about cars but I like to see how you evolve this car for a better one.
Sounds a lot cleaner reminds me of my N54 i’ve been thinking of upgrading to an M3 S55 any problem so far with the car? I hear a crank hub is one thing to worry about.
Thanks for the video. My exhaust also hits my crossbrace. What size washer did you use and do you think they have any effect on strength/function of crossbrace?
Show Me What I Need To Know somewhat true. The new one is louder though :). And the new one has a cat too. What’s less restrictive is the muffler. Also this midpipe design eliminates the rasp
I’m thinking about either getting the m performance exhaust from the factory or the Fi Exhaust both run about the same in price but unsure yet on which one 🤔
Hey Tom, Can you show us how you put the car on 4 jackstands :) - I need to take downpipes off and been wondering, been looking on forums... -- I know we have jack point in the front/center. which can be lift up to slide jack stands in. how about rear...thanks!
@@TommyLGarage Awesome! I got this exhaust on my radar, sounds good on your car. BTW looking forward to your rear mudflap vid. Want to buy a front and rear set;)
Thanks for the reply! Tommy L Garage problem is i bought the car with no oem muffler so i need the whole catback exhaust system...not to sure if i should try to get the axle back M performance muffler and pair it with the AA mid pipes
love your car but no matter what ppl do to the F80 exhaust, it sounds like pressure washer at idle... hopefully the next gen fixes this terrible issue.
I tuned in to look at the exterior color, you should call your channel 'How to dick-around with my M4 that was perfectly designed by BMW Engineering so I can post bullshit on my YT channel'
Kanwarbir Singh this one is quieter than FI. I also heard AWE - too loud Akra - too raspy and too $$ Dinan - very nice AA midpipe - nice but I don’t like the look of a stock box Overall this exhaust eliminates raspiness and give you a deep note. I like it.
Tommy L Garage was the Fi paired with stock DP? Cause that’s my setup and yes it’s VERY loud but still sounds decent! Hopefully tune is on the way cold start is my enemy at 7am 😂
Kanwarbir Singh The one I heard had aftermarket down pipes and it was unbearably loud. I also heard one with stock downpipes and that one sounded great but the guy also told me that coldstart was unbearable. Just pull the trigger and get a tune, it’s the best thing even if it’s only for the coldstart
Is Mirza Bosnian .. if he is say Jebi se to him jk jk .. nice ride bro I got 2018 M3, CS front lip CS rear spoiler and AWE Heat Exchanger next is AWE intake, Maybe M performance Exhaust or The one you have and tune.
I think it sounds pretty awesome without the exhaust at all. Why don't you custom make a fully enclosed rear bumper and pretend this is an electric car 😂
