In this particular video we install a D.I.Y. Extend-A-Stay RV Propane System in my 2018 Coachmen Leprechaun but decide to change the plans a bit, when things don't go as planned.... Welcome to my channel PandaMonium. My name is Ausia and my dog's name is Moo-moo... my rig is the Lucky Panda, a 28ft 2018 Coachmen Leprechaun with a tow trailer and Can-am Maverick 4 wheeler... here we tackle updates, upgrades, travel, rv lifestyle with some hiking, ebiking, 4 wheeling, exploring and events. I travel with a tribe and live full-time in a motorhome off the grid with 700ah of Battle Born lithium batteries. This is my everyday life and tour across America in my 28' RV, so join me if your open to excitement & fun traveling on the road during my trip through the many states and cities .....wish me luck and good fortune on this lifelong adventure. Maybe I'll see ya somewhere on the road.... good or bad, smooth or bumpy it's time to hit the road. Wishing everyone happy trails and glad to have you along with me on this journey called life. Glad to see him spray those connections. Please check all your propane fitting every 3-6 months as many rough roads you travel. Leaks can form from all that jarring.. We owned a propane company for years. Many campers came in to fill for summer fun. Many had leaks. We advised full times to check often depending on their camping spots.. SAFE TRAVELS 🇺🇸

I would add a 90 degree elbow right before your hose so your hose is behind the door not hanging down to catch on something when the door is closed.

A great job. Nice to have a vise even though it's brass. I always use Key-Tight pipe dope with tape. Nice plumbing reducers, adapters etc.

I love my extend A stay ! I workamp so I always like to leave my onboard tank full and run off one of my external tanks. That way in case of an emergency like when the power goes out I always have propane. This will be a game changer for you 😊

We had an extend a stay installed at Camping World for warranty reasons so we didn't get to see how it's done. We love ours, saves on a lot of fill ups. It's really cool to see how it's done, thanks for showing us your install.

Propane work is best left to professionals Buddy was using wrenches backwards and over tightening. If you ever have a problem your insurance won't cover you. But you will have saved 40 bucks.

Have a similar set up. We only use the onboard when traveling, otherwise we use the portable tank. Definitely easier to refill.

My extendastay came as one unit, disconnect the regulator and screw in the exstendastay then screw the regulator to it.

Ausia, I'm so Thankful that Ed & His wife travel W/Ur Tribe, I'm sure that each one of U that travels in Ur tribe has a special gift or talent that is useful to the whole tribe.I told U over a week ago that Teri & Scott were heading Ur way, & Jimmy said in his last Vlog that they were coming...I'm so excited as U R as well. SORRY... I cringed when I saw Ed using Channel locks on the fittings! This setup is trouble waiting to happen. WAY TOO MANY fittings. On my rig I put a longer reach hose from the RV to the tank. I could disconnect from RV tank, and attach to portable 20lb bottle. ONE hose changed, and I was done. You don't need to transfer fuel back and forth. Just run off the portable tank until you move the RV. Over 25 years experience in repair plumbing, and 5 years in New construction plumbing. I spent 8 years living in an RV. , and have done many SAFE modifications.

This is great Ausia. I bought one of these extend-a-stay kits with my rig but never felt confident enough to put it in. Now I have a how to do it video I can reference. One thing I'll have to come up with is a squirty detergent bottle for the leak tests. Thank you so much! And thanks for the tip on the teflon tape - yellow, not white! Good to know. Onward bound!

I have installed the gas line in hundreds of 1/2 million dollar homes when I did hbac every single one passed inspection. Not one ever had a fire. But the peanut gallery will rage on.

@ ED Thank you for helping Aushia. Just a suggestion, When u wrap teflon tape, u pull it tight, to sink into threads ( 3 ) FULL WRAPS Then threds will go deeper into fittings. 4 wraps won't let threads go in far enough. If u watch video when u tried to loosen 1st connection, u turned it the wrong way, bending main valve shaft, a bit, going into Tank. I suggest replacing main valve, And put it back like it was. This is a Accident waiting to happen. If a car were to run into the side, it will open valve , or break the whole smear off. Badda Boom. That's a lot of weight, bouncing down a washboard rd. A T-valve from a safer location, off inside line, would be safer & cheaper. Not worth the risk. In my opinion they should locate the tank & Control Valve, inside frame, or rear of tank. PS use tubing wrenches. Just a suggestion.

I've never heard of an Extend-a-Stay, so I'm very glad to learn about it and see one installed. And use yellow thread tape for gas fittings, not the regular white! I'm so glad you got the quick disconnect, safer and easier in my opinion; I would have sprung for it too. 19:40 the dogs have their own community...wonder what their videos would look like if they could make some. on the "10" scale Ed did a good job, about an 8+.. but three things jumped out at me.. #1. never mix galvanized pipe with brass or copper pipe. it's OK for a temporary emergency fix but the galvanized fitting should be replaced ASAP. #2. the regulator should be as level as possible.. looking at the video, It's not to bad out of level and will likely be OK. #3. Do not allow the quick-connect fitting to hang below the "Skid plate" that protects the onboard tank valve.. on a back road a rock or pot hole could rip the quick-connect off and cause major (and dangerous) damage to both the fittings and onboard tank. and please remember the female end of the quick-connect fitting should always be tightly sealed (plastic bag and rubber bands) when the male end coming from the auxiliary tank is not plugged in so as to keep out dust, moisture and bugs like yellow jackets who love propane gas. Other wise good Job Ed.

Too many turns of tape - 2 turns is plenty so the thread engages deeper. (tape is to seal the thread not bandage it). Also should have used a quick release that has a valve built in and will not let gas out even if valve is open with no connection to extra tank.
