Can you please make a video for "third graders" lol on how to use a bosch palm router? From what bit to buy and why , how to install it , which one to choose from and why , do you start it first and than put it on the wood or put it on the wood and than start the router , the best speed , if accessories from bosch are needed/why and where to buy. Sorry for the lengthy question lol and if you already have this video I have not yet found it :). Thank you in advance.
Thank you for point out your flaws. I can never stop myself for beating myself down when my work has flaws. This makes me feel a little better that someone like you, who creates so many beautiful items, can make mistakes as well. Thank you!
I’ve had a raised corner a time or two in table tops. I was told it was my clamping pressure and pocket holes pulling the same direction. Ever heard of this? Anyway since I changed up alternating pocket hole direction and clamp pressures, the tops lay flat. And yes, I always edge cut my boards
You can improve the rigidity of those budget Harbor Freight clamps by ripping a piece of 3/4 plywood or MDF about an inch shorter than the clamp length and wedge it in the hollow cavity.
Awesome build, as always! I have a tip that might make it easier to hold those cross pieces (braces) in place while attaching them: Clamp a 1x4 horizontally to the bottom of the apron on each side. That will create a flat shelf for the braces to rest on, ensuring that they are flush with the apron.
@@731Woodworks I've heard that saw has a lot of side to side movement. I heard the same with the bosch version too. I really want to buy a saw like this so i can put it directly up against the wall as i dont have much room. Did you notice it?
Matt, you out did yourself! This looks amazing and so much better than the inspiration piece. I’m sure the customer was over the moon. Hubby and I are going to give this one a try. Fingers crossed! BTW, we have taken up wood working as a hobby we do together mostly due to you. Your way of teaching and encouragement has been a blessing for us. Thank you so much!
You are inspiring me to give it a try. I am just beginning woodworking and this seems doable for me. Great that you show the mistakes, it’s encouraging for us newbies.
Hello first of all thanks for your nice video I’m following you from Spain, I have a question if I may: how much do you charge your client for a table like that and what is the ratio between cost of material and selling price? Thanks a lot keep up the good work
Matt, love these videos! Especially the mistakes part we ALL do it! However you said it well... when you stain it it just looks natural. I use a pocket hole to hold my table tops down. Have a good one and God Bless!
Just finished frame and just cut my lower shelf, glued and pocketed. Gonna Preston and stain tomorrow then doing the top the same way. Awesome videos, you made me think I can build this and I can. Joined the shelves with your level technique. Most amazing part so far...it perfectly square
Looks beautiful. You made it look so easy to build. Thanks for sharing. I made a TV stand one time and it was like building it twice, I kept screwing it up. I am not a professional but when I was done it sure looked professional. I used almost all pocket holes to assemble it. New took from Kreg. Xmas gift. Thanks for sharing. Barry
Your videos just keep keeping getting better! Love the project but really like all the tips and information on construction. Very useful information for this beginner. 🤜🏻. God bless you!
New sub as of yesterday, and man. I love your videos. You go above and beyond with your annotation and explanations. Way better quality than so many of the woodworking channels out there. Solid stuff, man. Great video again.
I've been seriously considering the Wahuda Benchtop Jointer. Do you like yours? Any major issues? They are having a Black Friday sale through today, with free shipping and 10 free blades for the spiral cutters...
Wonderful video Matt, I really appreciate how you explain things ( like setting up the hand router ), not many take the time to do that. I think your videos will challenge me to step up the projects I am working on. God bless you Matt.
Nice build! That feeling when it all comes together, THAT'S why we build😉 Keep it up. I really enjoy your videos. 👊 (How do you like that Delta saw, now that you've used it a bit? )
I build wine cabinets and cellars for very wealthy clients and do, not detailed, but very nice work and I’ll tell you right now I use pocket holes for a lot of different things
Hi Matt, love the videos and the genuine way you present yourself. What I'd like to know is what do you use to protect the finish of the top against spills, like coffee of all things? Bye the way, you left off the Pittsburg F-Style Bar Clamp off your tools list.
Loving the channel bro ! Brand new wood worker here, built my first entry/console table a few days ago and it's imperfect ! Lol but the satisfaction of building it was worth the effort. I'm currently using manual tools to cut and sand and fasten but hopefully I can make some money with these first few projects to invest towards power tools ! Been watching and learning from a ton of videos on RU-vid and yours are definitely helpful ! More power to you 👊🏽
When you put the Brad nails in the corners of the x braces did you put the inside the x or put them in from the outside end of the table and kind of like toenail them in?
Beautiful. I just built a table almost identical. Just outta curiosity, how much would you typically sell one of those for? Btw I’m a big fan of your projects, love how you do things.
Purchased your plans a few days ago and already have one built. Awesome job on the plans. I also bought a few other plans from your website as well. Much respect for you.
Good afternoon, Matt. Thank you for the awesome videos. I made the same tables, but mine are concealment tables. I would like to show them to you if possible.
TIP..... Many people have Romba vacuum cleaners. Consider allowing enough height to allow rumba to freely run under all your builds that would benefit of being vacuumed under.
Pocket holes have a very small learning curve, the jig/setup is very inexpensive, they are quick to use, and their strength is good enough for most uses. I use Dominos but A. This is my full-time job so tools=income and B. The cost of my Domino machine (which, like everything Festool, is absolutely absurd) is what most beginners spend to get their whole shop started. Pocket holes have their place, and while I make things with fancier joinery, I more than understand that what I make is expensive for a lot of people and most people building stuff just need something they can do that works. So don't feel bad about it. I made my first "real" woodworking project with pocket holes.
@731 Woodworks I have been milling lumber for around a year now and I have some live edge slabs of oak that are 2.5" thick. I would love to see what you could do with one. If only you weren't 8+ hours away I would bring you one.
Have you ever had problems with the one by pine boards? I get alot of issues of the board cupping. It could be a perfect board then I make the tabletop and 2 days later it's cupped horribly
Awesome video really like it very much love watching your channel I would like to make some farm style cutting boards what would you recommend for the type of wood to get and can you find it at home depot or Lowe's
@@731Woodworks I'll have to try it some time. I have made homemade wood filler using wood glue and sawdust from the boards I cut and it color matches pretty good. You're right though, it does take some time time to set
Just purchased the plans. Everything was great. One thing that is off is the bottom braces in the plans show 24 3/4” I didn’t realize until I put the table together. Maybe you could take a look and change that in the plans. Keep up the great work.
you wound't see the small angel misstakes, if you make a v-groove to the joints. That way there is a kind of gap in every joint and nobody will see the little bigger gaps ;-) Greetings from Germany
We watch a few video's after my comment , I'm sorry if my comment was harsh I did'nt mean to sound rude. The music was in the background on the few we saw later, and didn't play while you were speaking
Man!! You should do a “customer pick up” video! Or even a customer ordering a custom piece and show the steps on how you come up with measurements from a picture. Customer interaction. That would be cool.
Matt would you be willing to talk privately about this build? I’m having problems with making a level top. I have 2 long clamps, 1 short and a kreg clamp. I’m having trouble figuring out a way to ensure that when I pocket hole the top it doesn’t move and warp.
If you’re too busy I completely understand. I watch your channel like crazy and have built several of your projects. This one is just giving me the willies. LOL
@@731Woodworks will do. On highway cutting through Cincinnati at the moment. Heheheh. Will contact tomorrow when we return home. Plus then I can up a video or pics as needed.
Good job again.. I find myself enjoying your videos and your content. You should try building an aquarium stand. Its been selling a lot for me lately. Gotta make em really strong tho. Pretty much double or triple the amount of framing for larger stands.
Hey Matt. I have a project I'm working on in which I stained it dark walnut but I used an oil base stain. First time using oil base. I just pre stain conditioner but its still blotchy with lots of color differences throughout the piece. It may be from having too much stain in some areas to be honest. Any suggestions for a fix?
awesome video, was watching your end table video and was wondering how to do the x brace. this solved it. thanks, learnt so much from your channel now just have to apply it to the jobs l am going to start up..
I really enjoy watching your videos and tutorials. I'm saving up to get me some basic tools and in the process of getting a small shed to transform it into my workshop. Keep up the great work.
I love my harbor freight Pittsburgh clamps. They may not have fancy features but boy do they get the job done. I dont know of any clamps that even compete with them for value/price.
Matt, Great build, and great instructional video. Also, got to know what the music titles are. Great Beat to accompany the video. Keep up the great work.
If you are making this table again in the future, you could look at the video at 30:20 and if you slightly adjust where you put your pocket holes or the table top supports in the middle section, the table top supports would hide these pocket holes for a little better look. Then make sure to point out to the customer that you took the extra time and care to do this. I run a side business doing roof cleaning and you'd be surprised how much mentioning these little things can garner some good 5 star reviews, and when people talk about the table you made for them, they are likely to point out little things like this. Then their friends will know you take extra time and care in your finished products...all by moving a guide line slightly for the pocket holes. Yeah, I admit I'm a touch OCD, but I take that and turn it into a positive spin on any potential sales. :0)
My wife wants me to make one for her mom and dad for Christmas. They want farmhouse style. Should I do the shelves in stain and paint the rest? I think that is a good idea but what do you think? Thanks.
I like the look of the wumba sixes compared with the tubafors. Don't get me wrong, I haven't seen a video you've done that didn't end up great, but these are really nice additions. Thanks!
So after having your Kapex for a while is the delta even comparable to it? Asking for a friend too broke to buy the Kapex but just recently purchased the cruzer 😅 I, I mean he loves his cruzer
Remodeling my kitchen with new gray cabinets, white marblish countertop with gray veining, and white subway tile backsplash with gray grout. Thinking I’ll build one of these tables for living room next to dining room & kitchen, with wood painted to match cabinets and a tile top to match kitchen backsplash. Might also do a dining table to match, though I’m a bit uneasy about doing a tile top for a dining table.
Hey matt, Shouldn't The end pieces of your Frame. Measure 24 inches instead of 23 and 3/4? I can't figure out where you came up with an extra quarter of an inch.
Hey Matt . Great job. That table looks very nice you make looks so easy. I appreciate all the advice. Thanks again for the info. Keep up the good work . Sin miedo al exito ( No fear to success Bud )
Titling a video with "With plans" should also disclose that you have to pay more than a few dollars for them. I respect the hustle and totally understand charging, but I can't respect trying to make it seem like they are in the video.
Suggestion: Rather than try to make perfectly tight joints, put a small bevel or roundover on the mating edges before assembly. On this style of furniture, I would round over all edges anyway, so just include edges at joints. It looks fine on this kind of furniture and it disguises imperfect joinery.
have you considered using the pocket hole plugs to cover them after screwing things together? they are cheap and easy to use if you get them from amazon.
I am a beginner woodworker and really enjoy your videos. I successfully built the farmhouse end table with drawer last year. This year I was determined to build the coffee table. I found that the dimensions of the table made it extremely difficult to manage on my own, even with a proper clamp. I also found that the wood kept splitting when i screwed in pocket hole screws. I have reluctantly thrown in the towel in favor of a plane using thicker wood. This maybe shouldn’t be a beginner level project.
I really like your videos. They are informative without going off on some other subject and you loose track of what you are doing. I have a couple clamps that you attach to a piece of plywood and the board gets attached to the clamps. Then you do the level type cut. Your level idea seems easier and quicker.
Matt, rookie cop here looking to start a channel. Made my first project because of your channel. Any way I could reach out and take a hour of your time to get some tips? Keep doing what you’re doing! Such a inspiration!
Good Morning Matt! Once again, you have done it and made it look simple! Congratulations! I have two questions for you: 1. What are you charging for this piece? 2. What is/are the names/artists of the music that are on this episode?
$350 for the table. I use Epidemic Sound for my music. You can use my referral link here: www.epidemicsound.com/referral/t7meas/ The songs in this video are Road Dreams by Donnel Mase I'm Bout It by Donnel Mase The Hangout by Donnel Mase Khondi by Ooyy
I wasn't able to get all the cuts out of just the seven 1x6x10 I don't know what I did wrong. I'm having to get three more 1x6x10 boards to be able to cut the 4 other pieces of 1x6 at 47 to have the total of 6 pieces and the cut at 28 inches for the x braces.
Great video... I probably watched this twice cause you got me laughing! Sticker on the miter saw, no mic voice and celebration dance. Keep the videos coming brother!
Great videos brother! Keep them coming. Where is the "link below" for the actual plans for this. I just finished your end table and now my wife wants the coffee table.
Love the video, built this myself and we love it. I bought and downloaded your plans and for the life of me can't figure out how you built it with 7 #onebasix's shown in the materials list on the plans. I was able to get all my cuts out of 8. Any tips or cut list you could provide to get it out of 7??
