You guys didn’t build it allow for expansion specifically the C clamps you made. Should have been slots to allow board with expansion. Same with the bread board. Should have been slotted as well.

This didn't show how to unwarp a table top.

When you were staining and installing the C channel you can see that it was still warped. Did you just decide to run with it?

Yeah we still went with it. Unfortunately the bottom was still a little warped, but the c-channel definitely helped it from getting any worse. We belt sanded the top so it was flat, even though the bottom wasn't perfect

Using pocket screws to attach your breadboard will cause the wood to split because there is no room for expansion. I know from experience

After using 3 coats of water based poly, and sanding between, any problems with streaks?

I have an older but nice dining table that had some rough spots so I decided to sand it and re-stain but I have run into a warped spot. What to do, please? Pls send link for 2 pictures, one-leaf no flaws, one-top warped spot.

Looks awesome! My toxic trait is thinking I could do all this. I was looking at building a desk for myself but after seeing possible problems like warping /cupping and not having the proper tools to get the design I want. I might just buy a premade desk and change it.

How many c channels should be installed?

A standard dining table would only need 2 but if you are making a longer piece like a work bench, 3-4 would be best. It's primary use is to keep the wood from warping, so it depends on the project.

I understand that seasonal expansion and contraction is a factor to consider - how do I account for that in the design? I didn't know which design choices allow for that.

Thank you so much! Yes we used Varathane Premium Wood Stain which is oil based :)

It looks great. Allot more work went into that table than you displayed. Stop motion is nice for the audience but it deceives the viewer into thinking that your task was easy. Having a woodshop myself, I know exactly how much work went into your table. You did an excellent job. But truthfully... how many times did your wife tell you that you were doing something wrong? This is why my wife does not enter my woodshop! It's just the nature of women.
