Real cool, but I only need 8 non attached to each other recurve limbs the size of a medieval warbow limbs. It's for a crossbow project that fires full sized arrows.
Love your videos, I don't realy understand why it's not 208millions subscribers, since the stuff you make is absolutely awsome, but given time I bet you will get there too!
My 15 yo daughter and I are literally BRAND NEW to archery, and we're currently looking into an ARC Rolan snake for her first bow, but not sure on mine. So I've been doing a lot of research into the art, trying to find my interest (rec., hunt, compete, build). I have really enjoyed all the videos I have watched of yours so far. Your energy is electric, and the way you break it down makes it totally understandable to us Noobs. Look forward to watching more content!
As a beginner bowyer with exactly 1 functional bow (70" longbow), an 8ft heat box, and a recurve form that isn't even, this is an AMAZING idea. I genuinely went straight to the website and got one for myself (will be here on the 07/19). It is so disheartening to spend so much time on a bow, only to have it snap during tillering or when the string is put on the 1st time or the first time it is drawn. It is comforting to know that a lot of the really hard work has already been done, so I can practice finishing a bow and get the dopamine rush of a finished product. EDIT: Longbow is 70" (seventy); for some reason no matter how much I edit it, the comment still shows 79" (seventy-nine). Maybe its a cache thing or something, but just wanted to clarify.
One never been a fan of kits. I've paid more than I would pay for an actual product for good guides on how to do it myself because I'm interested in the entire process. Buying a kit only gives me a small portion of that enjoyment. Your videos have given me the guidance to build a bow, but if there were a compilation, especially with added instruction in print, I'd be more than happy to buy that. A relatively inexpensive source for materials would be awesome, too. I can't just go out to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a lot of the woods that would be optimal for building a bow. My nearest quality lumber store is well over 100 miles away and the online resources I've found only want to send 36" sections, at most.
Kramer, my brotha....im actually on the way to make my own bows...i will be getting my own equipment to start my bowyer journey and I've been watching a lot of your videos to at least get an idea on what i need to get started...im kinda nervous on starting because i know I'm kind of a perfectionist but i know i need to make those mistakes in order to learn. To start off, i really like your style of bows you have made and to see the beautiful craftsmanship on them, and i would LOVE to make one of your bows. Thank you for your knowledge..... Andre T.
Kramer you're doing great for the bow community, I like alot of your products and customer service already. This is a great idea for beginner and expert alike in my opinion. I make my own bows but I'm very tempted to try this due to the style and layout. Excellent job and very good instructional .
I've watched more than a few of your bow building videos and wow they are informative thank you. One small suggestion if I may... You don't show the finished bow at the end, I would love to see detailed video, up close and personal views of the bow, to see the contours and the grain, the shape, just a small 30 second highlight at the end of the video would be awesome :) Thanks for the great videos, keep them coming!
Another great video! I love learning all the tips and tricks for making a bow. I've only made one self bow so far, but have been shooting it for a couple years. You've been a big part of my inspiration to make a bow, and now I cant wait to make more when time allows. I'm an avid bowhunter with my compound, but now I want to harvest game with a bow I've made myself. a few staves and some lumber await when I get caught up on customer orders eventually lol.
damn id love one of these to try to build! just built your design for a board bow with some cheap board from my local diy store! wont last but got a perfect bow for less that £15!! youre an inspiration!!
SHAME ON YOU! IT'S YOUR FAULT! .... now I even want to BUILD a bow ... Where will it end? 6 months ago I let you talk me into buying a Black Hunter recurve bow. After only some fun-shooting in Scottland 10 years ago, my first serious step into archery. Got a 40 lb bow and, surprise, found it somewhat heavy to draw. So, started working on my fitness and strength. Was thinking about doing it for years. Finally starting felt pretty good. Even fixed my bycicle, that was hidden in the basement. Point is, I can´t even remember the time when I felt like today! Whenever possible I´m out on my bike, bow on my back and heading towars the woods. Even just hike around in nature is fun. Feel great. Shooting slowly gets better. Without trying to be dramatic, your video about that bow got my a$$ up and took me back (I don´t know how many) years in time. Thank you for all those tips, tricks and your funny, entertainig way of giving us tons of information. Please keep doing so. Big hug and and all the best for you and your team. Frank (61 fxcking years old)
I don't have a band saw. I'll be getting a hand held belt sander. But can you build this bow with all hand tools? The kit I saw in an email today shows it's almost finished.
Hello kramer i really love your work and im trying to lear from you and make my own bow i want to ask you if i can use plexiglass for making a bow ? Big fan thank you for everything you do🙏🤩
Please wear your respirator mask more it's super important especially with composite materials like fiberglass. That stuff enters your lungs cuts them up and then heals over permanently embedded inside of your body.
@kramerammonsarchery do you think that manual hand plane, spokeshaves, chisels and card scrapers can be used for most of the shaping? I don't have any power tools. Also I'm planning to have no arrow shelf, kind of like horse bows. Also, do you ship to Europe (Finland) and how much does it cost?
Hello, I am looking to buy my first bow, and I saw your video about the Black Hunter recurve bow. However, on Amazon the black hunter recurve bow is slightly more expensive than the Black hunter Longbow. I’ve only ever shot recurve before, but I am trying to save as much money as I can. Do you think that the switch from recurve to longbow is gonna be a bit of a learning curve for a beginner archer, or do you think I would probably be able to still shot as well ad normal with a switch from recurve to longbow? Sorry for a long question, and thank you for all of the videos you make!
Thanks so much for watching and that is super exciting about getting a bow. Going from recurve to longbow will be no issue at all for you. The longbow shoots great and I still have mine. It might even be a touch smoother to shoot than the recurve! Best of luck!
Center-cutting both sides probably won't work. 🙂 But maybe only a minimal shelf one each sice could be possible... gonna have some serious archer's paradox though.
@@glenn_r_frank_author That is what I was thinking about the paradox. Anyhow I would do more a medium to just past medium notched universal style handle for the bow so I can do a full style grip easiest for my hand size with bonus of having grip repeatable. Then after handle is go for my left eye dominance as well as make the transition for the tip overlay less sharp. This is if I actually needed another bow but I do not.
@@glenn_r_frank_author everyone else is right eye in my family like my dad or like my mom and brother both are dominate so they use right eye for the options and convenance though mostly my brother, dad, and I shoot bows and Dad and brother have a bow that is old Fiberglass with dad's the Brown Bear by Bear Archery a 45 pound only bow at 28 inches as his only bow that is nearly new from original owner snice on birthday a few months later in 1970 got a better actual laminate Bear model new, the K-Mart version of the Grizzly and brother has what I think is the 62 inch Ben person Super Jet (hard to tell with the camo in Return of the Jedi Rebels Forest Moon of Endor Helmet camo color and a blue enamel below that) that at his 27 inch draw is 45--50 pounds but should be 50--55 pounds at 29--30 inch draw. I assume that my brother bow is the Ben one version of taller Super Jet since few old all fiberglass recurve bows were made this tall at 62 inches and most stopped at 60--61 inches.
