We are making good progress on our DIY fireplace makeover. In this video I will show you how easy it is to install AirStone® to the fireplace mantel surround. We removed the old tile a while back and cleaned up the cinder block for a new material. We recently found out about AirStone and love the results.
We have updated the woodwork in part one, primed and painted in part two and now in part three I want to show you the stone we are installing and how easy the install process is. This install can be done by anyone. It is that easy!

An excellent video tutorial on showing a complete Airstone install. All the vids I found on Airstone are like 2- 5 minute long, w/o the fast motion video so a DIY-er such as myself couldn't see certain parts of the install. Thank you, and continue your fine work and tutorials. You guys Rock!

It looks beautiful and easy to do . I am getting ready to use air stone also . Thanks for sharing. Love the pattern you ended up with small slats looks nicer.i also have a mantel .

You can start on the bottom. I just wanted to make sure the top was just right. That was more important to me. Good luck!

Hi! We are giving our fireplace a facelift and will be re-tiling the surround as well as painting the mantle - I was wondering if you recommend painting first and tiling second as you did in this series? Our concern about painting first is that there will be mess from tiling and we will end up needing to repaint... let me know!

You could do it eitherway. I would paint then mask off the area you don't want to get grout on if you are worried about it. Just get the masking tape on well so the grout doesn't get under it. I hope that helps.

Our new house has a tile fireplace, I’m wondering if we can sand the tile some and then use the airsoft adhesive to go over the tile??

I don't know about that. I would try a piece of scrap tile and the adhesive and try gluing something similar to it and see if that would work before messing with your fire place.

I planned to so the exact same thing for our fireplace, but saw that the Airstone Interior Adhesive isn't rated for the high temperatures a fireplace outputs. Have you seen any issues from that? Thinking about replacing the adhesive with fire rated stone mortar

@@johnanderson8594I did mine 2 years ago. Used refractory cement on the stone closest to the fire. Has held up without any issues and I get my fires blazing hot.
