Thank you for taking the time to make your video. I learned a lot and gained confidence to proceed. My wife and I may tackle a similar project soon. Blending the two color styles was a great idea since the 3 choices on their own seemed a bit bland. I liked your closing comments. A job well done!
We used this stone I just didn't like the patchy color look. So I did a German schmear on it. Loved it after that. We had a corner fireplace. We have since sold that home and will be doing it again soon in our next home it never ends.
Awesome! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I've been looking at this type of veneer also, and I was wondering how it would look if I combined these same two color groups. It looks great!! Thank you for taking the time to make & post this video!
Hey, thank y’all for doing this video. It’s very informational. Your project looks absolutely beautiful. My husband and I are fixin’ to install these. I’m getting started on it before he gets home from work. Thanks again!
Phil Anderson like she said they are very lightweight compared to other stone products from what I have checked out. But i wouldn’t stack it all up in one day, to allow lower level time to set.
It really looks nice ,great job ,but it looks like more than two colors ,I just. Picked up 5 boxes I have 4 colors ,it was damaged boxes so I got a huge discount.im doing a wall behind my wood stove and then a walk in shower and some in my kitchen .thanks for the info
Am I the only one that thought he was saying “nudes” towards the end of the video? 🤣😂🤣😂 I’m half deaf though....lol. Great video, friends. Thanks again.
Do you think a first time DYI person with no experience with grinding/masonry experience could apply this is a flat wall? This video was very well done. Thank you for telling about the products you used.
The stone is very soft and easy to work with. lf you mess up a piece no biggie just grab another. Take your time and i'm sure you will impress yourself. Thanks for the nice comment and if you have any addl questions just ask.
What if you have a shelf above the fireplace? Should I cover it all the add the shelf back on to wall by drilling through? Or should I leave a space where the shelf goes?
Very good video, thank you. We are going to install this around our fireplace. Removed the ceramic tile and most of the drywall came off also so we stripped it bare. The product seems to be light weight so based on the fact we only have 12" wide x 46" High on each side of the fireplace box and then 48" wide x 12 High over the fireplace box I decided to go with 1/4" Durock cement board as the backer. Do you think this is heavy enough to hold the weight? They say it is a light weight. Thanks
Great job, looks amazing. Getting ready to start my project. Just wondering why you preferred the tube adhesive over the paste adhesive? I would imagine the tube was quicker to apply then the paste? Thanks
We have bought 8 boxes of AirStone and they are consistently broken IN the closed box. We ordered for home delivery and they were still broken. It’s impossible to complete a job w no certainty the materials are good. they are light but also too fragile.
Great video. We are planning to blend two different color schemes... did you just pick randomly, or have some sort of pattern of what color or piece to install next? thanks
Wonderful job! We’re about to put this up around our wood burning stove and also bought both colors. How did you decide where each color went to mix them so well? TIA
Thank you and thanks for watching. We initially laid them out on the floor to mix the colors. Its easier that way to see how much of each color you have left, but as we progressed up the wall we kinda just choose randomly what we thought looked best. We just tried not to put too much of the same colors too close to each other but honestly it was kinda fun, like putting a puzzle together. Good Luck with yours.
@@brianrichard1768 could you post a video of how you added floating shelf? That is one of my concerns with the stone being so light how were you able to drill through it to add what I'm sure it is a heavy floating shelf. Didn't the stones crumble? Thank you.
@@joannamin1759 I cannot post a vid but I can tell you how I did it. We purchased the wood from a saw mill (get lightest pc possible) we stained it. I located where the studs were behind the stone (helpful to do this before you install the stone). I then bought lag screws, I believe they were 1/2 x 8". I installed the screws thru the stone (easy to drill thru stone with regular drill bit, and no it does not crumble. I used 4 screws) and into the studs behind the stone. I then cut off the screw heads with a cut off wheel, marked where they needed to be on the shelf then predrilled the back of the shelf and pushed into place.
Hi...question if I may. What if I wanted to a shelf or something between the fireplace and tv....and I thought of it after the stone was installed....can these be drilled into without the breaking or disintegrating? Thx
It's not plastic. It's more of a stone/concrete mix that is very light. If you dropped on on a hard surface it would crack but once on the wall they are pretty tough.
I did a cut out behind the tv and fed them into the hollow space above the fireplace and then added an access door from the side in the next room. It was a lot of work but we never had 120v or cable outlets on this wall so it had to be done. This was all done by myself before I started my channel.
