Recall date 2023-08-23 Recall no. 23V594000 Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Rio, 2016-2018 Optima, 2017-2018 Optima Hybrid and Optima Plug-in Hybrid vehicles. The trunk latch base may crack, preventing the opening of the trunk from the inside. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 401, "Internal Trunk Release." I had this same problem on my 2017 Optima & Kia changed out my latch for free. Fixed in about 45min at the dealership.

Hey bro I'm having issues with mine not locking I check the fuse but good do you think if I disconnect battery it will reset ir do I have to replace at the moment I got it tied down it won't lick and the dash doesn't tell me it's open

So mad I just put my new one on now my car saying the trunk open I can't open the trunk now

Or take it back to kia there's a recall on the trunk
