Your enthusiasm is contagious. And for goodness' sakes, making over a whole house takes time. Never apologize for taking too long in a room, or with any of your projects, Andrew! It makes it much more delicious for us to take it all in, in little bites. (altho, I'd argue you do a LOT in every video you make!) I love your aesthetic. It is so inspiring to me. Thank you!
This is BRILLIANT! You should be very proud of yourself. It's extremely difficult to assemble a plethora of unrelated objects into a cohesive whole; to transform what is, in essence a workroom and storage space into an atalier, but you did it! I snorted Diet Coke out my nose when you told your dad only fabric that complimented the wall color could go on the shelves. That's my boy! I would expect nothing less from you than obsessive attention to every little detail. Another marvelous testament to your talent and ingenuity, as well as your indispensable and awesome parents.
Love the cleat idea and literally being surrounded by all of your curated items and textiles ought to help keep creative ideas flowing!! Woe to those who have to store their goodies under the bed and behind the vacuum cleaner in a closet down the hall!! You get to just sit in the middle of that beautiful studio and breathe in the inspiration!! An artists dream!! Congratulations!!!
Andrew! Long time follower - first time poster. Professional organizer here ( 30 years) These look fantastic! Bravo to your mom for seeing the comment and for y’all created the french cleats. I have peg board in my art studio and its fine- but I an loving the French Cleat look! I enjoy all your videos!
This is just wonderful on so many levels…your attention to detail is only out weighed by the love and support of your Mom and Dad. I enjoyed the finished project but the process is what really wowed me. Congratulations! 20k you got this!
I love your channel because you don't do makeovers in a weekend. You're a steward of the home and creating something worthwhile, not just adding set dressing for clicks.
I appreciate that you feel this way! I definitely think it is the best method for me and I stand by it… but it’s tough to make it work with the algorithm and such 🤪
Wow, a custom studio. I have been amazed by your dad never saying. "You're too picky", or "What does it matter?" You KNOW he had to give you just a little grief though. Dads are like that. You must have really impressed him in the past, and this would be another time. Some very creative details here that I want to steal. Yes, you guys are right, the faster any tree grows, the weaker the wood. That wood was not farmed, but probably just felled in the area. Plan on almost 2 times the strength with is salvaged wood. I am sure it is pine but still also milled in a better way back then. Not the farmed Home Depot stock. You somehow managed to make the room look like it has been there for years, it's not new looking at all. It is also retro-fitted for the inevitable changes to come. Brilliant. Amazing. THANKS!
The French cleat system is an excellent idea for modular storage that blends with the room and will grow with you. Your creative use of different hooks and shelving pieces achieves a collected look and offers loads of storage. Another winner!
This project turned out spectacular! I love the design choices you made with the wood stain and black hardware, it really accentuates your personal aesthetic. This room is quickly becoming a showpiece and I can’t wait to see the fireplace finished. I feel so honored to receive a shout out on your channel and privileged to have assisted in some way, even if it was just making a comment 😂. Looking forward to a 20k episode soon, maybe a collage inspired by your RU-vid journey? 🎉
Hey Lisa! Thanks again for this idea! So much better than I could have imagined! Not sure that I’m gonna do anything too special for 20K… I’ve been planning kind of a year recap looking back on all my projects this year… so that might fall into the right timing with 20K!
This project may have just made this my favorite room in your house! This is so cool and is a great way to see what you have at a glance, is endlessly adaptable, and also works as decor. This is brilliant! The ways you’re displaying and storing the rolls of fabric is particularly brilliant, and I love that you showed more than one way to do it. (Also, apparently I was the 3,000th view! Congrats on so many in only 8 hours!)
I mean, I knew what a French cleat was, but this brought it to a whole new level. It’s just so perfect for that room and makes so much sense for the vibes in there!!!
I think that you're one of the best interior Designers today, Andrew. An artist and a craftsman but ultimately a unique and naturally talented Designer and you should have more influence on the aesthetics of the world. It's not just because you save a lot of things from a landfill but you see beauty in its potential and bring it out, masterfully. And it looks better than any new-made item. I came across your channel by accident maybe 6 months ago (kitchen episode, titled: Am I out of fashion with my choices..? Something like that) and I've never missed one since. I re-watched the gems a few times, with you creating a stencil wallpaper in that fabulous Masculine bathroom; the headboard transformation; the fabulous porch... I also love your consistent choice of music, with theremine instrument. It's all now Andrew brand. Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! You chose the right house and you're bringing out its beauty like only someone with a high level Designer eye would. Of course, only the fabrics in the right tones must be on display haha... no question ! We must value and celebrate our artists!! I honestly don't know why you don't have 1 million subscribers but you will get there. Your videos should also be translated into other languages. Maybe, you could do a compilation video with your highlight reel at the end of the year? I know a country that would benefit greatly from your influence. I'd love to do a video magazine article on your work one day, when you're ready to branch out with your products. The world needs to know you, Andrew. That's what I think. Deepest gratitude and respect to your wonderful supportive parents. They must be so proud. Wishing you all the best!♥️♥️
Ok so this is genius and fabulous and amazing! I'm a massive fan Andrew but I rarely comment. Hi to your Mum (you mentioned she reads comments) from Perth Western Australia ❤
I miss working with my mom and dad There was nothing we wouldn’t do and our motto was we can always rebuild if we didn’t like how it turned out Such memories I tickled you get to enjoy your parents
this was an incredible find. thank you to that commenter because this is such a great energy for your space! this has shot up in my wants for my own space.
The organization is devine!! I've used the cleat system several times and it never fails to be the perfect option. This room invites creativity! Lovely!!
I thought I was going to hate this. But,I bitch slapped myself because it looks fantastic,is very practicle, and can change and be amended as needed. It's a very workable space, but looks so good you could have cocktail hour in that room.Well done Andrew.
It’s taken me 5 years to renovate and finish my condo, which is only 1200 sq ft, so no apologies for how long it’s taking you, please. Still, the way you’ve used your French cleat system makes me wish I had an extra room for a studio to make over! Good job!
Ok. So if I send you 2 plane tickets, can I borrow your parents for about a month? You are so fortunate to have all that wisdom at your fingertips! My mom was my partner in crime😊 She passed away about 10 years ago and I miss her wisdom ❤ I am amazed at your tenacity and determination! Thank you for sharing these ideas. What a perfect result! I’m incredibly jealous. Beautiful.
It’s been a bit. But glad I found you again. You really show such a great diverse. DYI. Bringing back and stretching beyond all the projects. Thank you so much.
Wow! I love the cleat system you've all created!! So functional yet way more interesting than standard shelving. I've heard of cleats for heavy art, but hadn't considered them for an entire organizational system, until now. Lisa had a great idea for sure.
Wow...everything can be seen so easy to find.funky space ...great job to the 3 of you....would love to see what your parents have done in their home....congrats on 20, 000 subs .you are unique.👍
Happy Wednesday, Andrew! I really like the French Cleat System and how you are using it. As always, it is fantastic to see Mom and Dad work with you. Where was Queenie? Someone had to supervise! Have a great rest of the week! Take care - Don
Wow! I just love it! Never heard of this before, but I can see why it's so popular, based on the comments. I know this is your studio, and I know this system is designed for organization and storage off the floor, but this almost feels like a museum room to me. I'd love to go in that room and just look at everything. Your design choices with the belts and the magazine holder, etc. are just so clever! BTW, you need an eraser for your whiteboard. You and your folks did a spectacular job on this! I'm so looking forward to more.
This was a great idea you had, and your design is so pleasing. I like this channel so much. Taking into account the age of your house, I assume that is lath and plaster for your walls. For amateurs like me, my modern wallboard skills are woefully lacking when trying to work. Locating that stud for your rails was familiar enough. Parts of my house are lath and plaster, lath and mesh, and concrete block covered in lovely hand-plaster. There is wood in there ... somewhere. Even simple picture hanging needs care so the plaster doesn't crack.
The french cleat system looks practical and with endless configuration possibilities! Great job! Aside from your whiteboard, your studio could be from a century ago. Excellent team work with your folks helping out too!
What is wrong with you? When I think, wow that is absolut stunnig, you put something on top! Your studio looks absolut great!!! Very practical and beautyful ❤
Andrew it looks sooo organized & you will definitely benefit from having all your materials immediately available to inspire you in any project. Also it looks very artistic. You’re so lucky to have such supportive talented parents to help execute your ideas. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌻🌴
❤Space leads to more creativity, like you don’t have enough. But gives to those who aren’t as creative. CUDOS to person who gave inspiration for cleat system. It takes multiple mindsets sometimes to create. Keep up, love the reuse process. I like doing it too. But your restores better than Augusta/Aikens ones
Wow this is amazing, I dint even know there this “accessories cleats” thing, I like it can be custom and Change whenever it need to. And somehow, I don’t mind the fireplace look undone. Reallly goes well with the overall look. Definitely will be a new fan here!
I love the wall organization. Great tip. The fabric over the entry door makes me a lil nervous. Lol. Love how you put the fabric bolts in the boxes on the wall cleat system.
i just started the video, but this seems like an even cooler version of a peg board. how awesome! Edit: idk why i thought you were going to leave the beams natural and i was like your studio is going to look all stripy lol Edit for final reaction: look fucking amazing, horary for all parties involved!
Howdy Andrew!! What a great way to organize your work studio!! The cleat system is so versatile!! It really helped getting things off the floor!! Fabulous!! Hugs & tugs from Ohio!!!!!!!!!!!!
As it began I was doubting your vision, but it turned out great. A lot of planning and work it turned out wonderfully . Great storage and display, it helps to complete the room. It adds a lot of interest, kudos to your dad and you in completing a great project.
I always get so many ideas from your videos. Then I go home and decide "I'll do that another day" because I'm lazy lol. IDK how you get so much done, it's quite impressive!!! Thank you for sharing!
What an awsom idea with this cleat system! Love how versatile it is and of course how beautifully you made it all work in your studio. I got really inspired!
This is exactly what I need to do. I have plaster walls also and a junk closet that I couldn't figure out how to hang shelves in. The room came out so great! That smoked glass desk in the midst of all that wood and metal . . . it's so good!
