Handmade friction folder knife from old file, with aspen handle, metal spacers and bottle opener. Very compact and useful pocket knife. Knife template - drive.google.c... / koss_workshop / kossworkshop
I love all the tacticool, EDC chuckleheads complaining about how it doesn't have a lock, not knowing what a friction folder is. Not every knife is supposed to be a mall-ninja high-speed low-drag weapon you carry around thinking you're going to knife-fight terrorists and zombies with. Knives are primarily tools, and friction folders reflect this. You don't use it to fight, or beat it though logs. You use it for normal knife tasks. This is a simple cutting tool that can be carried even in the most anti-knife states, because it DOESN'T have a mechanical lock.
Boy you are going to feel silly when terrorist or zombies attack and you are stuck with a regular knife instead of a super cool Kris blade dagger with a dragon on the handle from the outlet mall. Only those who have studied the blade will reign victoriously.
You say that now but, when the zombie terrorists land their helicopter in my boring suburb of Podunk, Ohio (obviously they'd come for me first) ... I will be the one stepping out of the shower, laughing, in my tactical bathrobe.
I love the video man it's just you need some more music selection it kinda gets old after hearing the same song play over and over again no offense but other than that it's a great video and I hope to get the materials to do this project
Fully agreed! I wrote a long comment above, some dickhead replied to me that I should chill. Trying to learn something from the vid but couldn't because of terrible music and no commentary
Koss I honestly love your videos, I watch them when I’m studying or even when I want to make a few knives of my own with your technique. Thanks for the fun -Santino
The way I've done it is you make paper blanks of the knife and one of the scales then you basically just poke a bunch of holes until you find a orientation that works and make ne blanks with your correct orientation
Сделай в пятке рычага углубление, а в соприкасающейся с ней детали рукоятки поставь подпружиненный шпенек и получится простая фиксация клинка от закрывания. Как во флажках предохранителей стрелкового оружия. Просто и надежно.
I first was a bit doubtful about friction folders, I got some my self. But I love those old fashion ones with that small tang thingy sticking out. They're so cool as front action knives. Adding a lock and bearings would be sick too, but it's something about the simplicity I love.
I love friction folding knives, and specially that one is perfect ! + the opener for beer - this is definitely мy favorite folding knife ! Respect to the craftsman ! : ) Я очень люблю фрикционньIе, складньIе ножи, а етот получился вообще классньIй ! + открьIвашка для пиво - ето точно мой любимьIй ножик ! Респект мастеру ! : )
I had a table saw grab my glove once. Pulled my hand in and took a chunk out of my middle finger. it crushed and mangled my index finger, cut both tendons and the nerves. I lost the index finger. Just so people know, that is very sound advice.
Scooter 101 Definitely. As an experienced engineer I would agree to this completely. Would not want them catching and taking your fingers off! Other than that, Love the video, great work
Das ist ja mal Klasse... Die zweite Funktion finde ich ganz witzig. :) Kannst du mir eins anfertigen, ich würde dir auch das Material zur Verfügung stellen. Gruß Michael aus Deutschland That's great ... The second feature I find very funny. :) Can you make me one, I would also provide you with the material. Greetings Michael from Germany
Normally you don't need a magnet with friction folders as there is a reasonable of friction to resist the blade moving (the extended tang helps to level the blade open and once open prevents it shutting when held in the hand). I guess there would be no downside to having magnets though.
yes yes.. dyiiiy thinghy .. but why are a optic unit , and a chicten apliance thingy on that bench ? :)))) really dude .those thing doesent make your shit more interesting
The edge doesnt touch the wood. But the material is up to you, you could use plastic or thick rubber if you want to make sure it doesnt damage the edge.
To all of the people complaining about the music....no one is forcing you to watch. Lots of vids on how to make friction folders out there. For the people saying he needs a lock on his knife....maybe you should do basic research on friction folders first
