I agree with all of your top 5 things about the table. I've experienced all of them. Number 5 though... priceless! I made the table with my dad. I'm almost 40 but he's much more savvy than I am with this kinda thing and had a ton of the tools that I needed. Now, for as long as this table stands, I have that element of building something with my dad that I cherish and use frequently. Its where we game, its where I paint, and do everything you said even wrapping presents! I had a D&D group i found on meetup that was falling apart because the host didn't want to host anymore and my house became defacto because of the table. I seriously can't thank you enough for making this available, and affordable.
I just wanted to add my thanks for the table plans. My daughter and step-son mentioned one time that a tv in there table would be cool for their games. This year 2020, I decided to build them one for Christmas. I came across your video's and having no wood building knowledge, I went to work making it. Reading comments and watching your follow up vids, I was able to build and make some good changes. I wish I could post a pic here for you. THANKS AGAIN!!!
I'm so glad it was helpful in making an awesome Christmas gift for them! I'd love to see photos if you want to post in BGG: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1471747/build-gaming-table-150/page/32
Stumbled onto your DIY video and then followed with these follow ups. Excellent job, and I love the community projects too. Would love to try and make this someday.
Well said! Thanks to you my family and I have been gaming on your table for 2 years now! I had tremendous joy building it and it looks amazing in my mancave. Thank you so much for sharing your design, I wouldn't change a thing.
Youre such a friendly outgoing guy! Who happend to create and teach how to make an epic gaming table providing entertainment around the world. Good work man and kudos!
Great table! I have always loved this table and have plans to build one of my own. I live in Pennsylvania and I'm not sure where you live but I would love to be a part of your game nights. They seem like they would be fun and you sound like a great host!
I was gonna say the same thing! My buddy made me a bottle opener on wood with my initials engraved as a groomsman gift, and the magnet is on the backside so the caps will magnetically catch and stick on the wood.
I am looking at building a table, but why are so many of the designs so wide? Thinking about other more traditional board games like monopoly, chess, etc. or card games like MTG or Pokemon. Does having that long reach become a problem? Or am I over thinking it? In my little expierence DMing I am mostly attracting older adults who have a little free time on their hands, or my kids friends. One group does not like to stand, and the other group would not be able to reach even if they were standing lol. Also, on your TV, press F11 for full screen to hide all the computer UI stuff ;) More map space, and less browser/windows garbage getting in the way. Anywho, great series of videos putting this together, and the 2 followups. I will probably follow most of the design ques from your design! With the removable table top I am totally stuck on the idea of having pre-made game inserts that can be dropped in like painting on a generic chess/checkers board, or custom card game inserts for my kids playing Pokemon (maybe somehow laminating a game mat to a wood backer for different games). The possibilities are endless! Also really like the idea mentioned in this video about a slit to hold cards... though that could be a crumb catcher. Still, amazing inspiration! My brain is on fire!
A couple of folks have made a narrower version of the table to fit their space and needs. We have six in our gaming group so we like the added space but you can make it whatever size you want! Also, great idea with inserts!
Originally, I just used folding chairs that come with a cheap card table. But one of my friend's workplaces replaced all of their office chairs and I snagged a couple of them. Sorry I don't see a brand name. But any office chair that adjusts up and down works great.
