I was checking out the Gamma Seal lids at Menards. There was problems with all of them. Wrinkles in the plastic right against the o ring on the cap part, on some of them. Others had extra material on the chamfer around the rim of the collar part. The molds must be old or poorly maintained. Not very good quality control the way I see it. I’m thinking of also buying some o ring material that is twice as thick, this material will also seal better. You can make custom sized rings, use super glue to bond a scarf joint. I’ll go to a different location and check the quality of those until a can get a good one.

With Great Difficulty! On a portage it is easy as the handles make it convenient to carry them. these are designed for canoeing, not really backpacking - if you have smaller barrels you could do that but better just to get a bear vault or other bear can/ursak.

That would be unfortunate, I guess I have been lucky - no issues so far.
